Shoulder pain with exercise can be a common occurrence.
In many instances, shoulder pain is caused by muscle imbalances (too much strength in the deltoid and not enough strength in the rotator cuff).
When we work pressing exercises too often (bench press, overhead press, etc) our anterior deltoid (front of the shoulder) becomes stronger and starts to dominate a lot of exercises. This pulls the humerus (shoulder bone) out of place and can cause pain.
HOW TO FIX SHOULDER PAIN WITH EXERCISE
The most effective way to alleviate this pain is to stretch through the front of the chest and shoulders to create more space in this area and then train and strengthen your rotator cuff.
The combination of these two efforts is an effective means of helping to alleviate pain in your shoulder.
WHAT IS THE ROTATOR CUFF?
The rotator cuff is four muscles whose primary purpose is to stabilize the shoulder in its joint.
The truth is, we don’t exercise it directly as often as we should and the result is an imbalance in our shoulder muscles. The deltoids become too powerful and the rotator cuff isn’t strong enough to stabilize it in place.
ROTATOR CUFF WARM UP EXERCISES
The purpose of this video is to show you the best stretches for the front of your shoulder to create more space and decrease tension and then to also show you the best resisted exercises for your rotator cuff to improve shoulder stability and decrease pain.

I'm so thankful for ALL your videos. I've tried going to physical therapy and all they do is make my pain worse and worse (rolled ankle). So I don't got back to them for my left shoulder pain from 2018 when I had a mild SLAP tear. I keep reinjuring my left shoulder with day to day house work and laundry. And if I lay on my left side, I reinjure my left shoulder too. And it's crazy that nobody can hug me on my left side. And the seatbelt hurts my shoulder. The only thing that has worked is Tens therapy and laser therapy. But my amazing chiropractor left and I can't find another chiropractor to do those therapies on my shoulder. I now get pain shooting up my neck, and down my arm to my outside fingers. So fingers crossed 🤞 that these PT moves will help me. Thank you again for making these videos and understanding shoulder pain.

I am a high altitude trekker and mountaineer. many a times my glutes scream when i am am trekking on steep terrains with a 20 Kg rucksack. Any strengthening exercises you recommend. A quick side note. I have come across many videos which have provided solutions for shoulder pains. You are the best. You solved a nagging rotator cuff issue i always faced.

I subscribed to your videos the other day. As I mentioned last video you had with your wife, my knee and the exercise, forget which video with my varicose vein , what a difference. I feel better. That stretch is a difference. Might have been looking at some laser surgery but maybe your videos do help.

For the external and internal rotations I was recommend to place a towel between the upper arm and trunk. This helps ensure the force transfer is more effective, which is less so when the elbow moves away from the body - is this correct? Motivating video and very engaging 🙌🏼

The towel helps with position if you have a tendency to straighten out your elbow and lose that 90 degree bend. It's an effective and simple tactile cue; it you feel it helps you perform the exercise with proper form then certainly keep doing it. Sounds like you're on the right track, Sid! hello there..I am a 17 year old male, have an acute ACL tear and bucket handle Meniscus tear..my doctor suggested me to not to operate my knee and he also told me to wear a long knee brace every time..I am doing so, so my question is should I start doing exercise for torn ACL and Meniscus now or 1 month? I have watched your non-operative ACL exercise video....It will be so helpful if you can suggest me something..

These exercises are definitely recommended for a SLAP tear and would help that condition. Listen to your body and let pain be your guide... if any of these hurt your shoulder that's an indication they might not be the best ones for you. Good luck!

Someone I know has worn shoulders and a goat's beard in one shoulder from bench pressing big weight. He told me that dips are bad and I think I realized that. Dips or pushups for me at 66 r too much I think. Maybe after I drop another 10# not so much..
