As a lifelong Floridian who wears a suit to work everyday, a linen suit with no liner is a must. It can be worn pretty much year round down here. It is a fashion faux pas to wear a wool (or synthetic) suit and sweat your balls off. I started with a navy suit that is very versatile and can be dressed up and down depending on the situation. I have since bought a black (yes, linen can be dyed almost any color), camel. and grey linen suit. A full canvas construction with no liner is the way to go if you are living in a tropical environment. It pains me to see northerners move down here and not realize they need to dress for the 90+ degree, 100% humidity or just go casual when it is not really appropriate.

Great tips on the linens. I live on the east coast and definitely wear a lot of linen. Definitely a great notation about the expansion of the cloth as well. I would note that linen can be smooth depending on the weave, and like most fabrics depending on the weight can become much more breathable. I also agree that it creates a casually elegant vibe although and of my dress or formal pieces have been silk linen blends which have added some formality to the look. Great video.

While linen is indeed a great option for summer, it's not necessarily going to keep you cool just because it's linen. Breathability is determined by the openness of the weave first, the fabric-type second. If a linen suit has a tight weave, you're still going to be hot. Conversely, a half or quarter lined suit in summer-weight wool with an open weave will keep you much cooler. Linen is supposed to drape - it's not supposed to be form fitting. You guys look like you're wearing linen wetsuits.

You forgot something... When buying a linen suit, either 100% or a blend, don’t get the ones with a polyester lining because it defeats the purpose. I like the kind with a thin cotton lining. I noticed that the suits you were wearing had peaked wide lapels with nicely rolled folds so they are probably full canvas. Wrinkles, though they will always return, are kept somewhat under control by pressing the suit after you have worn them. I don’t put mine away with the wrinkles in it. Just before wearing, I give it a once over. If I am traveling, I may take the jacket off, such as in a plane, to avoid wrinkling it further. Just before getting off the plane I put it back on. I love linen and would not ever consider not having a linen suit or linen pocket squares.

I like the idea of wearing occasion appropriate clothing. BUT the linen is supposed to be worn in a more relaxed fit. Doing otherwise defeats the purpose of a flow through fabric. Because there isn't any space for air to flow in....

What about suits made out of silk fabric? I heard silk clothing can keep a person cool on hot days.

Not a huge fan of the super wide peak lapels. Also, cotton-linen blends wrinkle "less" but still wrinkle a ton, so really not sure what the point is with them. Just go full linen

Your suits are wrinkly because they're too tight. They're not track-suits~ it's normal for linen to wrinkle a bit but if you're going to wear it for more than a few hours, chill out no need for skintight suits

Honestly not even linen will keep you cool when is too hot outside, this is a myth that should clarified, and this video is not doing so. I use linen suits up to late spring/early summer.

Your suits don’t fit. They are much too tight and cling and bind with every movement. The tightness defeats the purpose of linen keeping you cool.
