This song was written by Kesha. Yes, THE Kesha. They used the same melody she did in her demo, too. One of my favorite SNSD jams. I also recommend checking out Hoot, which is kind of their ode to a mod 60s James Bond theme.

Fun fact: In League of Legends there's a champion called Ahri, if you /dance with her, she does the EXACT same move as Girls Generation do on the chorus of this MV, and yes it was intended by the people who created her in Riot. I remember reading a topic of this fact YEARS ago and I found out kpop through this MV, which led me to find out about BP's Boombayah and get addicted to the genre. I will NEVER forget THIS song.

Probably too late for you to ever see this, and someone else might already have explained this in the comments, but this is the lead single for the repackaged version of their second full album, Oh!. In the MV for "Oh!", they are extremely cute sugary bubblegum pop-y cheerleaders (which is a nod to their new status after the astronomical success of their two EPs Gee and Genie, as the "nation's little sisters"/"nation's girl group"), but in the story version of the music video, you see the "computer glitches" ending in them facing their sultry, dark, alternate dimension alter egos, and nobody knew what that was about. And then the repackaged album dropped, with this single, and the story version reveals that these girls are those dark and sensual alter egos. Which is why they seem to be in some kind of a digital matrix in this video (the story version shows them breaking out into the "Oh!" world a bit). Hope that makes sense. :)
