Today we are cleaning up the woodstove after the heating season has finished. It is essential to get the chimney and stove cleaned out to save yourself from the stove being damaged by the leftover ash and soot soaking up harmful moisture throughout the summer and causing unneeded damage to the steel of the stove. Also getting the soot, creosote and any other build up out of the chimney will help prevent a chimney fire down the road.

That looks like that should work well. I had a mess 2 years ago. I use a push rod with four 6 foot pieces. I used an existing chimney that has an off set to one side. When I was cleaning I usually twist back and forth to knock more soot off. When I was going back and forth the brush came off. I had no way to retrieve the brush. I ended up knocking out 5 rows of block right above the insert. I had to cut through an old fireplace hood so I could get at the top of the insert. Removed the pipe retrieved the brush. I ended up making a plate 1.5 ft by 4 ft. Wide. Painted it and anchored it to the brick. It actually turned out well. Now if it happens again I can get at it. I wish I had a T but wouldn’t work on my application. Yours went well.
