Our RV refrigerator went out for the second time so we just went to Home Depot and bought one. It cost $400.00 compared to $2,000.00. It fit perfectly in the spot, we didn't have to do any modifications. I love my new no frost freezer, so tired of defrosting!

Had our 12v compressor fridge for the past 4 years. It[s been on 24/7 over that time with food in it. Been amazing, love it.

OMG! We hate our frig. I’m pretty sure we got belly aches from questionable food our first year. Now, we manage it like a baby - especially in warm climates. And the freezer frost. Ugh. Great info! Thanks!

When I get my new rig this Spring it will come with a 12v. Also, missed you guys last week.

Our Wolfpup came with a 12 volt.We really liked it because we could keep it running while traveling long distances, but the compressor went out after 2 years. It would have cost over 2000 dollars to replace it, so we went to Lowes and bought an apartment size fridge for $400. It fit perfectly. We did have to install a 110 outlet inside the cabinet.

I had a 12-volt refrigerator put in my travel trailer and the guy at the RV place down the street put slide trim on the sides also I thought that was kind of strange. but now that I see your video I guess it's kind of that's the way to go. And I'm very happy with my 12 volt refrigerator compared to the absorption refrigerator 👍🇺🇲

Have to say the Dometic we replaced was an incredible disappointment. It had no frost free, and a really small freezer. My husband and son switched it out for a very eco-friendly Magic Chef that uses hardly any electric power, and we couldn't be happier. Took practically the same space, but the freezer interior is a twice the size. I have four packages of ribs, four fish fillets, one package of mussels, one package of pork chops, one caserole, and three ice trays and still space for more on the door shelves. Dometic replacements start at $1,400 and the Magic Chef was under $400.

I have a strictly DC refrigerator full-size I’ve had for years still works fine. No problem.

I absolutely hate that Norcold fridge that ice build up was no joke, I did end up finding a Samsung residential refrigerator that is counter depth so the slide out can still come in all the way! I also had the same issue of having to make the area bigger as my fridge was taller but not as wide

On my travel trailer I have a full-size DC refrigerator inside. I have a small DC refrigerator outside and they both ran off my solar with no problem whatsoever. It’s been a godsend.

Hi Tom, I enjoy watching your videos. Just wanted to comment on this video. We have the same Furrion 12v frig and have had it for 1 & 1/2 years. It works great and we love it. However we had it quit on us one time. We had an NRTVA tech in the campground we were in so I asked him to look at it for me. He traced down the circuit and found it had a bad fuse. I'ts a 40amp fuse. After replacing it all was good and has been for the past 3 months. The tech did not have a fuse so I ordered some from amazon 40 Amp Standard Blade Fuse, 40A Automotive Fuse. I now have extras just in case. The unit has to be pulled out to get to a circuit board on the top of the unit, where the fuse is located.

We have the all electric one. When of grid on solar panels when on landline on shore power no need to fool around with switches just disconnect power from shore and it’s always on

Make sure there are Fans on Both Sides AND the Top. This will maximize efficiency, letting the motor not work as hard by increasing heat Dissipation from the sides and top. They get VERY HOT, not fire risk hot, but hot enough you do Not want to hold your hand on it. My kitchen refrigerator here in the Philippines is free standing, several Feet clearance on both sides and above. I do not have air conditioning in the kitchen and often make sure the floor fan also blows on the sides of the refrigerator to help get that heat away from it and it works well. Very easy to tell a difference if there is a fan on one side only.

Unless you have solar, probably not the best choice?

You have solar - why the question when driving down the road and running propane. Why not just use the solar power to run it? I get the point about the ice cream, but when you are boondocking and it's cloudy for days, I guess you will have to run your generator to keep that thing cool. With the old propane fridge, you would be able to keep it cool with minimum power draw. Good luck, I'm curious to see how it really works out.
