This was handy to learn what wasn't my problem. I traced my problem to the "flush or trap handle" after exploring the problem suggested by this video. Kohler has a mechanism that fits into a square hole on the outside of the toilet. The actual chrome handle has to be able to move through this mechanism in order to full and release the chain. After time the plastic mechanism can expand and tighten down on the small metallic pipe that actually goes from the handle to the metal (or plastic) rod that attaches to the flush chain. My fix was to gently drill out the plastic locking section of the "flush handle mechanism" so that the metal rod was no longer hanging up when used. This allowed the mechanism to work properly and no longer hang up when flushing the toilet. No more annoying running toilet. I haven't seen this mentioned on any other Kohler repair video so thought I'd post it here in case anyone want to update their presentations.

Thank you so much for the video! I’m a 71 year old grandma and just replaced the seal in our toilet, which took care of the constant running. The job was surprisingly easy thanks to your help.

Another Grandma here...that was SO satisfying to be able to fix! My old gasket was shredded! Took all of 2 minutes and most of that time was cleaning off the shredded gasket. Thank you so much for such a clear step by step.

Thank you very much. The job is simple enough but I was concerned about turning the inside part. It was very resistant and I was afraid the break it until I saw your video explaining why. The job is done and I saved $200. 😁

Thank you so much for this video. After a repair man quoted me $2700 for a new toilet (gtfo) I saw this, and changed out my o ring in literally a minute. $6 later no running toilet.

OMG that is a burn! I would report him to your local Better Business Bureau. I have changed many toilets and never crossed more than $400 in parts so unless you have a gold toilet on a Space Shuttle, he was trying to rip you off.

@@URTechDotCa I definitely will, I kept the estimate and on the pics you can even SEE the broken o ring. Such a scammer
