Indeed. Or use the public transport. To be fair the cycle infrastructure in Moscow doesn't seem to be much good. There is plenty of space in many places (as we can see) but it's all shared-use, full of cars/bus stops, lumpy ups and downs, etc. They could make some brilliant routes if they put their minds to it. A nice 3m wide or 4m bidirectional track on a lot of these super-wide pavements, especially with kerbs and level changes, would make it a lot more obvious that it's not just spare car-parking.

@@xxwookey I was meaning that they can ride a bicycle up & park outside any store they want if they were riding a bike.. Infrastructure looks great there if it is like in the video.. Wide shared bike paths with Pedestrians... I prefer shared curb lanes though in High Density Areas.. Segregated bike lanes prevent us from being able to turn left with traffic(Canada), forcing us into the intersection before we can turn from bike lane..

@@bikinglikebecker Yes, of course parking by the store is always dead easy if you have a bike (although I've only seen a couple of bike racks in 8 years of StopXam video, so a bit more bike parking would be a good start. If you think the Russian infra looks good for cycling then we have very different ideas of what good cycling infra looks like! Yes there is loads of space, but if it's all shared-use that just annoys people walking _and_ people trying to cycle. Everything works much better if the peds know which is 'their' bit, and the people cycling cycling know where they are supposed to be. No-one is surprised, and both groups can travel at their normal speed without conflict. It's very easy to fit in a 2m cycle path when you've got 10m of pavement to play with. Indeed on these major streets they'd probably fit 4m bidirectionals on both sides, leaving 6m for pedestrian use. Generally good infra looks like 'what the Dutch and Flemish do'. The 'Not just Bikes' channel has lots on this, or 'BicycleDutch'. Bike lanes are almost always segregated and coloured except on minor residential streets and some very rural paths.

I thought the same about Germany. But after been on this channel for a while, I guess I'm getting more observant. And I started to notice, that here in Germany drivers will also do anything, to just save a few minutes. Just put up a construction area, where cars are not allowed to pass through and have to drive a detour of about 5minutes but have enough space on the sidewalk for a car to squeeze through. Waited for someone at a place like that and in just half an hour, about 10-15 cars just drove on the sidewalk.
