I have a question, i know that this is an old video but i'm still hoping i can get a response, i've started finasteride two months ago (and even in these two short months it's doing wonders for me including at the temples), for a while i had a myriad of side effects which all subsided, the one that remains is that it takes me longer to get hard, erection quality is still the same when i get there (i'm certain it's 100%) and no trouble keeping it up afterwards either, but getting a psychogenic or ''mental'' erection is all but impossible and where it usually took me 5-10 seconds to reach full glory even without touching it now takes like 20 seconds with touching, do you think this is something to worry about? I know it comes down to personal choice however i would appreciate your opinion on the matter if this is something that should be tolerated or if i'm better off stopping. Thanks in advance.

I still have dam decent hair for my age I feel. but decided to take F and M in combination to bolster, thicken and hopefully grow more especially in the top corners of the temple area. do you see a problem with my approach in any way? thx matt

Had the same experience except I was doing .5 every day. Now Im back doing 1mg daily and my hair looks great. I also use minox (8 months so far) and I'm just starting to see actual results.

Finasteride is in the sperm so you should either use condoms or stop the drug for that duration I guess(I aint a doctor either) but it can affect your baby's development in the womb

Please, make sure you're at least 3 months off finasteride before trying for a baby. That's what my doctor told me.

That's right. I also found the libido management effects of finasteride to be beneficial. You just have to find the sweet spot. The 2 weeks off every 2-3 months could work just fine too. But I rather take it continuously with days off in between

I would try topical finasteride first. I read some papers from dermatological departments on dutasteride actually helping with acne. But dutasteride blocks 90% + of your systemic DHT so be aware of that.

@grko6439 Hi - I sadly no longer take fin due to side effects. I am still holding well with other treatments (alfatradiol, fluridil, minoxidil, nizarol, etc) . But yes, when I was using fin, I was cutting generic 1mg tablets using a pill-cutter. You can cut into 0.5mg or 0.25mg very easily that way.

@grko6439 I think side effects are more common than 3-4%. Maybe it's around 10-20%, from what I can tell. I also think that if you are healthy and in good shape, you have a lower chance of side effects. My side effects became gradually worse after roughly 1 year. I don't blame everything entirely on fin because my lifestyle wasn't great and I did get covid twice, but still, getting off fin made me feel a lot better. I also denied my side effects for a long time, thinking it was just a nocebo effect, when in reality, they were real side effects. This meant I stayed using fin for over a year with side effects, which was not clever. On fin I gradually got low libido, thin beard & body hair, weight gain that was super hard to lose, and sleep/hunger problems. I have been off fin for 1 year, and I finally feel back to 100% normal, but it took 6-9 months. I also improved my lifestyle and fitness to help. I think anyone can recover from side effects quickly (within days or weeks) if you stop taking fin shortly after experiencing side effects. My recovery was long because I kept using fin whilst experiencing side effects for a long time. I also think many people can take fin safely with no problems, but you must understand that it does lower your DHT hormone, which is a powerful sex hormone. If you look on various reddit pages, you can follow the clinical trial progress of 10+ different upcoming hair loss treatments that have amazing promise. I will try to keep my hair without fin for a couple years and also get an FUE transplant to help my hairline. Hopefully something new comes to replace fin. Lastly - if you want to try fin, I recommend using a much lower dose than 1mg daily. I used 0.5mg EOD and my hair went from Norwood 3 to Norwood 1.5 in 2 years, which is insanely good. 1mg daily for most people is not needed. I recommend making your own topical fin with stemoxydine, and applying roughly 0.25mg of fin EOD. This should lower chance of side effects and still yield great results. Good luck

I have been taking finasteride for 15 years. Stopped for a month, tried taking every other day, tried taking half a dose every other day (my current protocol). I have experienced several different side effects. When stopping, I do not get a increase in libido (probably takes longer than a month to notice any changes). When I get back to taking it, I feel a little bit of pain/sensitivity in my tests. Taking finasteride every other day has the same effects and side effects for me. Taking half a dose every other day lowers the side effects, but also is not as effective in stoping my hair loss. The worst side effect I've had when taking a full dose, was a almost completely loss off pleasure when ejaculating.

finasteride works by accumulation, meaning that taking it every day is much more important than the dose itself. in other words if you dare to takeit every other day you will lose hair , it will be very painful

@@sapitron who told you this? It works by accumulation but dht starts bouncing back up at day 3 so every other day works fine just like every day and thats serum dht not scalp one. You just have very aggressive hair loss, thats why you have to take it every day or are just paranoid to lose hair.

@@saellenx3528 1mg does not explain by itself the 70% dht blockade except by considering that is accumulating in the body. Literature explain this. You will not reach 70% by taking every other day. So it may still work but may be not.

Man 13 years along time and I’m happy to know its work very well after this time but from your experience did you believe that post finastride syndrome is real ? I mean you had side effects but you still keep going on it so how you can deal with that

@@moha2479 "post-finasteride syndrome" is a name doctors give to what is also sometimes referred to as "idiopathic", meaning either "unique to the patient" or "we don't have a clue what is wrong". I don't believe that doctors are nearly as bright as we give them credit for, but I do think the body is a miracle, albeit a fragile one. If you put something in it, something will be changed, absorbed, and something will come out. So be careful what you put in it. What I will say, is that the body is pretty good at fixing itself, if you know how to leave it alone and let it do its thing. I regularly do long fasts, and have noticed improvements in certain chronic conditions which may or may not be related to what might be called "post-fin syndrome." Keep fit, and keep an especial eye on the neurological/nervous and immune systems. Without these functioning properly, you're screwed. I have a perfectly healthy life now and continue to take 1.25mg 3x/w. Am I a weaker man that I would have been had I never taken it? Only God knows. Ask Him.

On it 13 years too. I have taken breaks, no longer that a few months. I agree fully with what you have said. I received took a month off and my sex drive was higher, I had whiter and thicker ejaculate. It is a trade off. No such thing as the perfect drug. Just a side effect to benefit ratio

Testicular pain, rollercoaster libido, and watery seamen inside of my first week of starting fin. The experience scared me off from the drug for a few months, and I recently decided to get back on. I've been on it for a solid and some change now with no sides at all. In fact, I've had the opposite experience. My libido is crazy high now. It's like being a teenager again.

Even if my sex drive went down so slightly I barely notice it, is that tiny difference really worth keeping just to go bald? Not for me. I would gladly give up 10% of my sex drive to keep my hair. Mine is too high anyway. But so far no side effects for me. So far my sex drive is highest it’s ever been or maybe even higher than before taking the drug.

@@steven209 hair growth IS a side effect. Every oral drug for treating hair loss whether is be loniten or finasteride was designed for another purpose - the hair growth was a secondary. Try taking 2.5 mg every other day and watch your hair sprout like grass after rain.

Whatever the drug is meant for that doesn’t count. It’s why he’s taking the drug which is for hair loss and the adverse affect would be low libido , gyno and brain fog 2.5mg has a huge diminishing return it’s not worth it.

KC 85--Understandable KC. I also prefer not to go that route. However, how are you preventing your hair from falling out at the moment. A hair transplant can only do so much for your appearance. Do you think a HT will be able to cover all of your loss in the future?

@@serhatturan9174 Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been on KZfaq in a while.I usually take a break for 3-4 weeks. I don't do this at a specified time interval. I usually do it when my prostate has become to involuted (low seman volume). I notice a lot of the things Matt has experience in this video. I also notice a slight boost in calmness and confidence but that could be psychological.

The company that produces fin admitted to "fixing" those numbers. More people have side effects than what is reported. Its due to more dht and less estrogen when you get off

Estrogen can also cause a libido gain. For others extra estrogen libido loss so when you do good with higher estrogen maybe you do better with this medication

Yeah this is a good point. I currently take a medication that does this to me already. Only want sex like twice a week or to jack it once a week. So I’m kinda scared to start fin, but it probably won’t make it any worse imo. And I’m good with 1-2 times a week. My libido never went away. But i cant get an erection

I've been taking it for 13 years. Started when I was 19. I have a head full of hair and the first years I didn't experience any side effects at all. But gradually my libido has started to decrease. However, I think a big part of the explanation is that I'm no longer 19 and have been under severe stress and also depression. My doctor suggested that I stop using finasteride for a while to see if I notice any difference. Actually I think it's kinda nice not to be obsessed by sex, like when I was 19.

@@mohafar3429 i cut a 5 mg pill in half and i dissolve it in 10 ml of vodka. it dossolves in minutes, keep it in the fridge and the solution is stable for up to 24 weeks, simply take 0.5 ml of the mix and put it in an empty gel cap and bottoms up, that easy I use a 10 ml empty vial for the solution, sold everywhere, it does not need to be sterile. Right now even trying 0.03mg, 1 mg pills in 8 ml vodka and take 0.25 ml = 0.03 mg. You must use empty gel caps to ensure the liquid gets to the stomach, taking it directly from the syringe in your mouth and a lot of it will be lost in the tongue and the esophagus, the liquid must get to the stomach to act accordingly. 0.01 mg 15% reduction DHT, 0.05 mg 65% reduction DHT, what happens to 0.02, 0.03 and 0.04 mg ??we should try it

@@mohafar3429 i was for months taking theliquid directly from the syringe and i noticed a lot of shed even taking 0.5 mg of a mixxed solution but it is because a lot of the liquid does not even make it to the stomach if you take it directly from the syringe, filling empty caps is the way to go

Try the topical. You need a prescription and have it compounded for you, don't do the homemade one where you dissolve finasteride in minoxidil, it's just not gonna work. Have a pharmacy do it for you. You can get the prescription easily. We have the same results during the same amount of time using the same treatment regimen. Not placebo, I don't smoke and drink.
