Stories of Pride: The Power of Us celebrates how the LGBTQ community shows up for each other, providing support, affirmation, and inspiration to help each other be the best they can be. Showing up for each other can help create change - whether that means organizing against harmful policies, changing hearts and minds through storytelling, or just providing a listening ear. Allies, supporters, and adults make a difference for LGBTQ young people, because when we’re connected, we’re stronger. That’s the power of us.
You can show up for LGBTQ young people too: give a gift at thetrevorproject.org/donate
The Trevor Project is the world's largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ young people. If you or someone you know needs support, text START to 678678, call us at 1-866-488-7386, or visit TheTrevorProject.org/Get-Help to chat.

Oh y'all, hearing, "when I was growing up" from a teen still in the midst of growing up, that got to me. :D But yes, growing up not straight or not cis most definitely means you need friends, support, outlets to be yourself, whichever flavor of lGBTQiA+ you are. too many of us don't have enough of that from friends and family. We want today's youth and tomorrow's youth (and adults) to have better lives than what it was like when we grew up or how it is now. Those of you who have loving, accepting family and friends, that is so good. We long for better.

Gender curious? How about being curious about a little education? How about being curious about why you are so susceptible to peer pressure? How about being curious how you may feel about yourself 5 or 10 years from now when you are no longer an immature teenager or young adult? That’s a serious one, think about that one really hard. What will you feel about this when you’re 40 or 50 years old? It’s apparently sounds great to you right now, but you must remember, what you know and what you think you know is thousands of time less than what you don’t know. And the things you don’t know and all the knowledge that you do not have is what can kill you or ruin your life.

I appreciate you sharing truth here 5526. I taught 1000's of kids from 1974~on K-High school...now in my 70's-so I've been in the trenches-& also worked w/street kids. I was an Art & Music Director...not a bigot nor hurtful...but I care about all my kids. Here's the deal. Kid's have all kinds of "feelings" (& get hurt when RULED just by emotions) especially as they approach puberty. Then they get all mixed up about everything. It's a rare kid who gets it when young. I'll cut to the chase here. Kids have been more damaged, hurt, suicidal & mixed up since this gender obsession up to now when they got INTRODUCED TO SEXUAL GROOMING by a plan to hurt kids... being (what I truly believe)indoctrinated into these "sexual agenda obsessions" by those who pretend to care, but are users. So many kids are sexually molested by those who pretend & rob children of their purity & innocence @an early age. I had MANY kids that were creative...boys whose personalities more tender and girls tougher & tomboyish. And most all had confusion as they had Giftings in those areas meant to be used by their true biological sex. If guided w/REAL LOVE (not mental manipulation) most kids will work thru many issues of what folks call " identity" & not destroy their biology w/hormones, butchering their organs or castration. Few kids have loving support anymore...especially w/broken homes, families & divorce-which pushes them to cling to other kids or adults who pretend to be safe but are users. We have a Fatherless society & parents are divorced- & it's broken kids hearts. All I can say is- B4 you tear up your mind & body & get sexually used & addicted by sex/drugs & copping up your body parts....get to a caring adult who is Healthy & compassionate...all B4 you Regret it the rest of your life. I've been thru all this w/lots of kids. Love who God made you, appreciate & give it time & stay around Healthy friends & Adults-& you'll do well & be OK. Find your Creative GIFT & your life will be SUPER!

@@MichelleLinn1 Hello Ms. Linn, I think you have a very caring heart with encouraging creativity, and there is truth in what you say about some family problems. But it is important for youths with gender dysphoria to be understood and to be able to transition if that is what they are absolutely positive they feel with all their heart is needed for them. They need to be believed that they are not being mentally manipulated or used. Feeling trapped in the wrong gender body and needing to become a different gender or to transition is not mere feeling, emotion or phase, it is a conviction about their true self. Pride Month and pro-LGBTQ+ causes are not about sexual grooming or hurting children, but helping them. A groomer is someone who tries to win children’s trust to selfishly abuse them; it has nothing to do with the Pride movement or important LGBTQ+ rights. Transitioning is not about destruction; it is done by trained medical experts gently and carefully, not like “chopping off your body parts.” It is done after many psychological consultation meetings to be sure how positive the youth is about what the youth wants and needs. Getting addicted to sex or drugs has nothing to do with gender identity. It is not true that those who transition will regret it the rest of their lives; any risk of that is what the pre-transition counseling is designed to prevent. Many with gender dysphoria are fulfilled and happy after transitioning and are very glad they did. Blessings to you and yours.
