After the end of the Civil War a railroad was built to haul iron ore from the Cranberry mines in North Carolina down to a foundry in Johnson City, Tennessee. This railroad also hauled passengers through the rugged mountains and it was these folks that gave that railroad the name "eat taters and wear no clothes" for its initials ET & WNC. They also gave it the name it's known as today: the Tweetsie.
Today we tell the story of the Tweetsie Railroad.
