I had these down as a pure survival food, but I was pleasantly surprised after roasting them! I've mentally upgraded them to edible. Thank you for expanding my horizons.

Thank you! I roasted an entire jar, I thought they’d keep for longer than a few weeks.. better start adding them to every meal now 😅

I like them raw but super fresh, as in just opened and full of pollen. When I eat them at this stage , I find them to be somewhat nutty in flavour with no bitterness. I generally either snake on them fresh when out and about or collect them up to turn into a "pesto" type paste, which I use on salads and sandwiches. I'll have to give roasting them a try.
