Good footage without driving like a wanna be emergency vehicle

To anyone whose entire life just turned upside down & changed forever, I'm so very sorry for your losses....may your recovery be swift and full.

As a young teenager who loves watching Tornado videos and learning about weather on her free time, I must say seeing a tornado of this size in my hometown and this close to my neighboorhood has to be one of the most humbling and horrifing experiences of my life.

As I watched the footage, I was astounded by the sight of drivers continuing to head towards where a tornado was clearly approaching. It struck me as inexplicable that these drivers remained unaware of the imminent threat and continued driving towards its path. Their obliviousness to such a potentially devastating situation was truly baffling.

Very intense close up video of a strong tornado. Amazes me how so many of the other drivers continued on into the path of the tornado and did not even attempt to stop. People underestimate the power of these storms.

I live in Clarksville but was actually in Chattanooga when this happened. Everyone who was here said it was bad but seeing it firsthand is absolutely terrifying and insane. 3 people have passed so far, two adults and a child.

My daughter and family live in Clarksville. They were far enough away not to have damage and very thankful they have an underground shelter installed in the garage.

If you ever see one that looks like it's not moving it means it's coming right at you.

My heart nearly stopped seeing those people turning the same direction the tornado was heading, it looked as if they were heading down a road, but then I saw they were getting nearer the building. OMGoodness, my prayers go out to all in the path of these storms! PLEASE stay safe and thank you for this once in a lifetime footage.

I was in New York today complaining it was too warm out to wear my new jacket. Had I known what was happening to my southern brothers at that time, I would not have been airing any grievances, I assure you. So sorry this happened, love you all. I lived in Clarksville for years when I was on active duty. I still have a bunch of friends that live there. This is absolutely horrible. I’m praying for everyone who was affected by this disaster. RAKKASAN

These people were driving right into the path, totally oblivious to the incoming tornado! Unbelievable.

What's insane here is how many people keep driving down that road right into the tornado! Those people are either blind or stupid!

I was literally just searching the tornado history of Clarksville for a planned relocation among several places. I was surprised at their “luck” in having very few much less a serious one and in the month of December no less. Thank you so much for this!

The debris alone makes this scary. That it crossed in front of them makes it worse.

I'm in Gallatin, Tn in between clarksville and Nashville. We're without power here. Thank God that's all that happened. It could of been way worse for us.. A very scary night..

I have lived in clarksville for 10 years now and I have always feared and had nightmares that this would happen since everytime we get bad weather, it would always be either a severe thunderstorm warning or a weak f0/f1 tornado. We live near needmore road and we almost got hit since the tornado was near our townhouse. Thankfully it didn't hit us and it missed our townhouse.

Can you imagine what the people stopped at the light thought?? HOLY COW!!

I am bricked up.....that woman is so calm its actual music to my ears to watch a video of a event and not hear someone screaming and freaking out....if that's your wife/girl you are very blessed.

I live in the West Creek neighborhood in Clarksville and my house was hit pretty hard, but many of the homes in my neighborhood are no longer standing. It's been a rough couple days. I'm just glad that my family and I are safe

3am here in East Tennessee, still having thunder and lightning but the rain stopped. We have had no wind or hail THANK GOD ! Our love and prayers are with all who were in this storm. Horrible !

Crazy to see drivers waiting for the traffic light to change, so they could proceed out of harms way. The car coming thru with the horn honking would have been me...cause I've been through that scenario, being from central KS.

I live in Clarksville, and one of my good friends on my soccer team lost his house,and 3 members of my club were injured and rushed to the hospital earlier this afternoon. Their house was also destroyed, so this was very serious and thank you for capturing this footage ❤

Tornado destroyed my sister and her husband house but thankfully they are okay. I’m otr truck driver and this was scariest phone call I got from family because I thought they were gonna say my sister and husband unfortunately gotten killed.

I live in the area, was at a gas station in Gallatin, near the Gallatin Airport, where the news said the tornado was at the time, and I witnessed power flashes and inflow winds, and on the way home, the damage path, truly horrific.

Yikes, the utter lack of knowledge about step potential around downed powerlines chills me... That guy getting out to check the flipped vehicle after watching a series of distribution lines fall.

My dad’s side of the family lives there and they are all okay thank god . This is terrifying .

I live in southern Kentucky, it was a very scary experience. I remember I was putting my 6 month old (she just turned 6 months that day), down for a nap and I got an emergency alert that a tornado touched down in my location. I was SO scared and I felt my whole entire body go frozen, I literally felt my heart beating like crazy. I didn’t know what to do, I never experienced this before and I was alone since my boyfriend was at work. We don’t have a basement, and the only thing we have to provide us cover is a small hallway closet. Even if we could have somehow fit in there, it was filled to the brim with stuff since we we moved back in August. I just never had the time to clean it all out, from taking care of her, laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping, etc. almost everyday or no motivation to do so. The tornado was 15 minutes away from me when it first touched the ground, and had NO idea which direction it was heading. I called my mom because I was scared and didn’t want to feel alone in that situation, she did an amazing job calming me down or I wouldn’t know what to do. My daughter heard the sirens and was crying, I was stressed out SO bad I couldn’t think straight. Thankfully everything turned out alright, and I’m so sorry about those whose lives was lost that day. There was a child that did not make it, and I know the person personally which breaks my heart even more.

It was right down the street from my house. We watched it from the basement. Rest in peace to the people who were killed.

Wow, I lived in Oak Grove back in the day and tornadoes were always a threat in that area.

Heard that there are sadly several fatalities in that area. Not something I like hearing when it comes to tornadoes but it happens. That storm was monstrous.

I'm in this area. The military base, FT. Campbell, got evacuated because of a major gas leak. My life has been turned upside down, it's such a tragedy. 3 casualties, but still devastating.

Stepping frame by frame, at 12 frames into 3:32 just as the huge power flash is beginning in the distance, you can see arcing across the telephone splice on the nearest power pole -- the "bulge" in the lowest-hanging cable -- and also higher up near the street light. The tornado had twisted the high voltage wires into contact with many of the others, so power was flowing along them where it shouldn't, causing visible arcing and flames a block away. Amazing what cameras catch!

I can't believe that at 1:23 I'm seeing the wall cloud (tornado development) over my neighborhood. Even when I was living in Alabama on Tornado alley I have never been as terrified. My heart is breaking for the citizens of this city, my neighbors and the lost. 😔🥀

We were very relieved that it missed the dense neighborhoods south of the base. My parents have bad memories from when downtown Clarksville got torn up by one.

It's unreal seeing my town on this channel! I watch tornado videos all the time and have studied them extensively since the "Quad-state tornado" outbreak when one crossed this very same road just a few miles to the north. This was just a minute or two before it passed over (or just a few yards from) my house. Thankfully, only my across-the-street neighbors' wooden fence was damaged and a few trash cans and tree limbs were tossed around, but everyone in our neighborhood was okay. I had to quickly go from the kitchen to a bedroom to take cover after I saw that I was in its path. The sirens went off and I got a warning on my phone only after it had passed through. I also somehow slept through the Clarksville 1999 tornado just a few months before I turned four. That one also passed just a few yards from where my family lived at the time. My thoughts go to the victims of this tornado outbreak and those who lost loved ones during this challenging and scary time.

My family and I had this happen one spring a few years ago while eastbound on a rural interstate highway in the Midwest. There was sunshine to the north of the highway (our left), but to the south (our right) there was a solid black wall cloud all the way down to the ground and coming rapidly across the fields toward the freeway. Just as it reached the freeway there were a bunch of brake lights up ahead and a huge cloud of dirt and debris was thrown up just on the other side of an overpass about 1/4 mile ahead. For a second I thought there had been a crash, but the next second a tornado came out of the black wall cloud and crossed the interstate in front of us just like in the video. Freeway traffic going both ways stopped while it crossed and miraculously it didn't hit any vehicles. We arrived where it had crossed no more than 30 seconds later as it was spinning off through a field to our left silhouetted against the bright sky farther north. To our right was a "V" path of twisted off trees cut through the woods, and major tree branches and the twisted remains of one of those big green metal highway signs were scattered across the freeway. Everyone was sitting there wondering what to do, but what else was there to do? We slowly wove our way around the debris in the roadway and drove on.

The video was well captured and well earned, but much more impressive than the storm: you found a Ruby Tuesday in the wild.

Great video brother…. Always amazes me how people are Soooo oblivious to what’s going on around them in bad weather …. In this day and age with cell phones, there’s really no excuse for not knowing about the weather around you.

Wow i lived there for 6 years and Clarksville narrowly avoided so many tornadoes, seeing one actually hit the city and seeing familiar neighborhoods destroyed is just sad. The fact that they have no power, and its getting down to 20°F so they have no hot water or air makes me feel worse.

My wife and I live in hopkinsville KY and were spared but we work on Ft. Campbell and prayers go out to any and all affected from this.

My daughter and SIL and 5 gbabies live there. They have tons of property damage but thankfully they are physically okay. So scary.

Looks like it's crossing Ft Campbell BLVD after it went through my neighborhood outside of Gate 10 of FT Campbell. Somehow went 3 houses behind us but our neighborhood didn't get flattened, just all fences destroyed, large trees uprooted, a few cars flipped. Can't say the same for others after it passed us unfortunately.

My wife and i lived near there in St. Bethelem Tenn. during the tornado outbreak of 1974. Tornadoes surrounded the area and destroyed many parts of the south and midwest with a massive loss of life, by the grace of GOD we were spared. GOD bless the people of middle Tennessee.
