In the video I mentioned the stator can go, it's actually some of the electrical wiring around the charging system, which you can check quite easily and there are kits you can buy online for less than £100 to permanently fix this issue. If you ignore the issue, that leads to further issues with the stator etc. Another reminder, if you liked this video, please subscribe to the channel!

Wonderful review. I pick up a 2014 next Friday. Only has 4600 miles. It's pearl white and beautiful. Thanks for giving me something to look forward too!

Rode one for 3 years, did 600km runs at a time. I 'd suggest upgrading the rear shock and changing the front springs for stronger units.

At 71 years old, I’ve been riding for over fifty years; presently own four nice bikes. Been trying to sell my ‘09 fully farkled six gen VFR for two years now and I can’t do it. Every time I write up the ad, I take it for a ride and then decide it shan’t be done! Is “shan’t” the word? Bottom line - unless you plan to keep it, beware of buying a VFR!

Yes mate, great bikes, I've moved to a Hayabusa for a while but I do expect in the future I'll probably get another VFR, just hoping they make a sporty version

I have a 2001 so gear driven cams. I put ABM Straight bars on, very comfortable. Also Givi windshield and x-tra on top, excellent wind protection. Went up 2 teeth on rear. I'm 64 and light weight so it goes really well for me.

@@StormTEC It gives it more toughe, you can tell difference. I really like it. Also I've read where changing the front sprocket going down in size is not advisable, puts to much wear on shaft so if you try , go to sprocket center and get 520 conversion , I choose nickel finish really nice. They set up is lighter. Good luck.

I had an 03 one for 2 years and commuted on it daily, loved it, sold it, and regretted it. But as mentioned in the video, she's a heavy beast (260kg wet from what I remember), so something to be aware of. I'd recommend one of these in a second to anyone who wants a really great all round bike.

I've had a 96 VFR750, and I've been changing bikes over the years, because I like to experiment other models, and I still have the feeling that the VFR was the best out of all of them, it was so good, even beeing a carbed bike, so confy, worked so well, never gave me a problem, sold it with around 70k miles. I've heard the problem with most Hondas is the Regulator/rectifier, even my VFR had that problem, had to change it. The gear driven cams, as far as I know, were removed because of noise restrictions on cars and bikes (in Europe at least), so to make the bike quieter, they've removed the gear driven cams.
@StormTEC
@StormTEC Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that, yeah the electrical issue seems to stem from the reg/rec which then kills the stator. Gonna double check if mine has been done in the service histroy this weekend and if not I think I'll have to get it done this year, just over 25k miles now. Might take a long Europe trip and would hate for it to die when I'm not near home. Such a shame they moved away from the gear driven cams, too many regulations these days. I haven't been on a 750 yet but definitely plan to at least once when I can!
@esdrubaldino
@esdrubaldino Жыл бұрын
@@StormTEC I've heard people doing mods to their regulators, like adding a fan to cool it down (It seems the problem with them, is that they heat up so much, that they eventually fry), although I never tried it out myself, so I don't know if it works or not. And some people even changed them to Yamaha ones, or Kawasaki ones (It seems they don't heat up as much), but you need to adapt the connections, as far as I know. Your VFR is probably smoother than the older ones, but I was still impressed by how smooth and confortable it was, I actually got really surprised, riding at night was really good too, the stock lights are very bright, riding slowly was actually very easy and very economical on the gas too. The only downside is that it was more expensive on the maintenance, since the engine is more complex, but still not a big deal.

Gear driven cams also cost much more than a chain, probably weigh more, and more noise. 6th gen has numerous things done to reduce noise including the intake flapper and vtec

Good question, I'd like to try the new Hayabusa, but I don't think that could directly replace this bike and I think the VFR can do more things easier than the Hayabusa. I was also thinking about getting a Fireblade as a sport bike too, but if I swapped to a Fireblade from the VFR then I wouldn't want to take long trips to Scotland or Europe on it, for example. The VFR is a great middle ground because today I can go to a twisty road, where a sport bike is fun, and tomorrow I can ride 4 hours to Cornwall with no issues like a touring bike can do. So no plans to completely get rid of it this year at least, but I might be able to pick up another bike and just have 2.

Excellent roads around Elan Valley and Mid Wales! Great impatrtial review on roads and conditions I normally ride in. I regret not getting this model, instead plumping for a Fazer Thou for my winter commute/touring hack. Tempted to chop in my Fazer for a VFR, but want to get people's opinions from owners/riders who have spent plenty of time on both. My spring/summer daily is my 07 R1.

@StormTEC

Congrats dude, it will be a fine first big bike in my opinion. The weight might take a little getting used to, and take it easy on the speed for a while as well, a lot faster than a 125 and it wont tip into corners as fast, so you need a good few months to get used to it.

I would say that a VFR800 is a big jump up in size on riding a motorcycle from a 125cc. Keep in mind that there is hardly any room for error when you ride a bike like the VFR800. The bike is a great bike, fast, very comfortable, and reliable. In my opinion, the VFR800 is not a good beginner bike. A beginner rider needs more room for error in case they make a mistake on the road.

I would say that depends on why you're into bikes and what you're expecting from them? If you want a sportbike that's super fast then a 600 or 1000 is the way to go and you won't want the VFR. If you want a great tourer then something like the bmw GS or yamaha tracer would be ideal. But if you want a bit of both then I think the VFR is perfect 👌🏻 If it's price, I've seen the older models going for £1000 and sometimes less
