I really enjoyed this drama. It was nice to have leads that are not just goody-two-shoes and will actually kill people XD This drama wrapped up very nicely and I love how the second and third male leads (especially Yanlin!) weren't too terribly annoying and actually had a purpose in the story. Also, the whole thing about the drama being a story written by Xuening's modern-self as a way to pass censorship is so funny to me but I like how it almost is as if they can't get away from one another no matter the timeline XD

I had stopped watching Chinese historical dramas because i felt that I couldn't get a different vibe that was addictive and just finished this drama in two days its just great,u can't foretell the storyline, the chemistry is incredibly beautiful showing both love and loyalty between friends anyone who hasn't watched yet u are definitely missing on a gem

I finally can watch this amazing compilation video after completing the drama. I find this to be one of the better dramas of 2023. I have to admit, I like seeing Zhang Linghe in these “dark” character roles. 😅

Their story is one that will stay with me for a long time I think, their chemistry was insane, the yearning, tension ahhhh they are so evenly matched I'm so obsessed w them 😭 this drama tops TTEOTM for me fr, I love these two characters too too much. Beautiful edit!!!!

TTEOTM was more popular in china because it’s male centric, S+ level with big big big promotions, and its a xianxia. but i think this was also better done overall.

Yes, I'm split between my favorite this year. TTEOTM was #1 until SOKP dropped! Either way, all I know is Bai Lu is such a QUEEN. Her dramas are always so good❤

For me the directing and editing are a let down, but everything else is so good I can overlook the negatives of this drama and really enjoy it. One of the top dramas of this year!!

@@sneha07535 No. The costume drama was a story Bai Lu’s character was writing all along. Although the butterfly 🦋 might have given the impression that she issekaid into her story and then returned at the end! I love that Zhang Ling He’s character turned out to be her editor! ♥️

It is an excellent drama for me. The story, the cast, the OSTs and especially Linghe's and Bai Lu's chemistry all of them are great. I enjoyed all of the episodes. The final episode and the special episode made me so happy. I'm satisfied with the ending and this is surprising for the C-Dramas you know because they always make us cry and give us 2 minutes to happy or never give us that 2 minutes too. Anyways it was an amazing journey for me. I would like to see them in another drama as leads again.

THIS DRAMA IS SO GOOD. ML , FL AND SUPPORT CAST ARE DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB. EACH EPISODE KEEPS YOUR INTEREST AND IS FAST PACED FOR A 40 EPISODE DRAMA WITH A SUPPOSE IT SLOW BURN ROMANCE. I DON'T CONSIDER IT SLOW BURN BECAUSE THEIR CHEMISTRY IS UNDENIABLE FROM THE BEGINNING. IT JUST THEIR RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPS AT DIFFERENT LEVELS BECAUSE OF FL AND ML PAST MISUNDERSTANDINGS. I think Bai Lu and I just aren't getting along these days, I've dropped nearly every one of her shows (TTEOTM, Only For Love, and this one too) oof ^.^; so I am happy to see you do a summary edit of this one because i was curious how it would go for them - if and when they would ever get anywhere together haha oh dang i totally thought he was gunna shoot the scholar dude at 5:28! but awww him comforting her 6:50 and then that dedication at 12:15! man if this stuff didn't take the entire end of the show to get through i might have made it haha so thank you for making this edit so i could still enjoy it!!

You are kind of right. It is just that she loves herself more than anyone else (she's selfish). Xie Wei is also the same kind of person, but his love for Xie Ning's is an exception; however, he is still so possessive and obsessive towards her, and that is a different kind of selfishness. They are too alike. Smart, calculative, manipulative, selfish, and people who have strong desires...

I think it's because their story arc peaked at the very end of the drama, we didn't get to spend much time with them as a couple compared to her previous love interests both in this life and the previous one. But that was crucial to her character development so I can let it slide. Wish this was a couple of episodes longer so that their relationship arc could be explored more.

It honestly wasn’t dementia as we know it. If anything, it’s closer to sundowning dementia. And he hid it cause it connected him to his actual identity and could make him look less credible in the eyes of the palace court

Yes. He have manic episodes trigger by cold and snow. When that happen he can be very aggressive, ruthless, hallucinates and say crazy thing, as well as hurting other people. He's an important official in court so it's not good if people know that. He might lose his job and credibility. Secondly, his manic episodes are related to his past trauma. He is scared of saying things when he hallucinate that could lead people to find out who he is. He is living with a fake identity. His real identity - he supposed to be dead, and there are people who wanted him dead if they know he's still alive. That's why he kept his real identity hidden to take out his enemies first.
