This is the ENTIRE story of Section 504 and the activists who made it happen.
I filmed this series over the course of 5 days, hence the outfit switch ups!
This idea formed after searching far and wide for MY own history.
It is on me to learn and discover because it was not taught at my school.
This is a relatable sentence to many queer, disabled and/or people of color who feel their history has been erased.
As I move forward, and ironically, into the past, I will be sharing what I have learned!
Feel free to use the hashtag to share and research your own history as well!
Sending my love and support to you, angels.

Wow I teared up. Something as "simple" as a ramp and look at everything these ppl had to do. Nothing is ever given to people. We always have to demand to be treated with humanity, regardless of how you're a minority. Amazing.

Such a great video! For folks who want to keep learning, I highly recommend the Netflix documentary Crip Camp, where a lot of the disabled activists featured in this video met and began their organizing.

I am not deaf or physically disabled but as a black person who is Neuro diverse I think more black people need to recognize our movements were never to be exclusive only to ourselves, but to everyone in our community who was facing injustice. All black lives matter not just the cis gender ones, not just the straight ones, not just the neurotypical ones, and not just the physically abled ones! We need to fight together instead of co stantly trying to drive our own communities apart. I greatly aooreciate you for sharing this piece of history with all of us, I cant believe this is not something tought more often in our schools.

It’s crazy that the school systems don’t teach us this important history I had no idea about. we have to go out looking for it 7 years later (in my case) thanks chella ❤️

We must continue to support each other’s causes for justice. Helping someone else win doesn’t mean you lose. The world is not a zero-sum game. If only more people realized that.

Hi Chella! Thanks for making this video. I always love getting to learn about things I wasn't aware of, especially history. I'd never heard of section 504 until today or the protests. Thanks for enlightening me!

Hey Chella, for school I have to design a Christmas card and I wanted to write it in sign language! My question for you or anyone who knows is can I just draw each hand shape for each letter? Or would that be incorrect? Thank you!
