I can't believe it took me so long to realize this but story boards are just pictures giving the general blueprint of the animation. I've been racking my brain trying to make key moments while doing my best to have them in the right spot in my animation. I felt like I needed to comment this in case someone else was in the same predicament. Don't think of it as a choppy and very basic start to your animation, but rather a slideshow of important moments and key details! I hope this helps someone out there!

thank you so much! I always thought that storyboard need to be super clean even if it's for personal project. But now I understand that as long you're working on the animation alone without no team then you can make your storyboard as messy as you want since you're going to do the animation all by yourself anyway.

Can you please show how to export an animation in sketchbook to KZfaq or Instagram cause it doesn’t let me, it shows that it’s not a file??

in my sketchbook tutorial I go over how to export your animation (toward the end of the video) you need to make sure it's exported as a .mp4 or .mov to then upload to youtube :)

Your videos are always awesome! I was wondering if you have any insights for discovering your style & becoming more consistent with it? Would be curious to hear your process. I’m wanting to start a web comic, but I keep finding myself having trouble getting a good style nailed down.

Thanks Nick! Glad you like the videos! I’ll definitely be doing a video on how I found my style and keeping consistent - the latter is something I still struggle with myself since I get a bit impatient when I don’t feel like I’m finishing stuff quick enough 😂

kdsketch - Definitely would love to hear how you did! I need to turn my manic doodles into something more complete and structured. But yeah, I imagine consistency becomes a bit easier when you feel confident in what you’re doing.

How do I make every layer move in the same speed within the other layers when I'm doing the truck camera move?

the layers should all be at different depths (closer to or further from the camera) so when you move the camera they will look like they're moving. layers that are closer to the camera will move faster. If you want them all to move at the same speed then they need to be at the same depth.

So as I move stuff to the other side in the same speed, there's only one problem: I want to move the animated objects in the same speed with the other objects but the thing about putting the layers in the same depth, well it seems a little complicated when I try to merge the animated objects onto the same layer.

You don’t have to move the objects just the camera

can you put in camera pans/movements in Krita or is this just something you can do in TVPaint? Thanks!

Krita had an update recently and they've added a camera, I'm not certain on the details because they haven't posted the update to the windows store version (which I have). if you're using Krita to animate I'd suggest storyboarding in the program storyboarded by wonder unit - it's free and has a tonne of great tools and it's much easier to time out your drawings on that program. If you then export as a PNG sequence you could bring that back into Krita to work on top of/animate on. Hope this helps!

No camera in krita, best to use an editing program for any moves if the software you’re animating in doesn’t have one.
