This is one high school stereotype I have to agree with: the mean cheerleaders. I cheered my freshman year and refused to continue throughout high school (despite loving it) because the girls were so freaking mean and I knew I would've been miserable. High school in itself is very cliquey but cheerleaders are def the worst.

They were very clearly jealous and felt threatened.. they obviously didn’t want anyone to be “better than them” so I feel they saw some competition & wanted to bring you down & felt the need to make everyone else’s perception of you bad & wanted to manipulate situations to show you in a bad light. Girls are ridiculous sometimes.

There was a girl on my cheer team in high school that was the identical to “Abby.” She always targeted me and I was so scared to stand up to her. This story reminded me sm of my hs cheer experience just full of petty girls. All my teammates would tell me she targeted me because I was the only one who wouldn’t stand up for myself but it’s scary!!!!!!!!

i dealt with similar stuff my freshman year it caused me to quit and i regret it everyday cause i truly did love cheer so much. my coaches completely ignored it when i confronted them about the situation. they all told me that no one cared about me and that i should just quit. it truly is the the worst feeling in the world and it is so frustrating when you try so hard to make peace. you should be proud of yourself for how mature you handled the situation even if at the time it didn't seem like it

You have to be strong as hell to deal with that kind of stupidity, I personally couldn’t of done it. I quit cheer for those same reasons. It made you into a strong young woman! I’m glad you didn’t give up. I know you probably had so many rough nights with debating on giving up. YOU DIDN’T. You deserve a trophy for that. So many girls suffer from depression with girls like this. Now that I’m not in high school, I think and cry a little for those who are dealing with that right now.
