Why was the "demonstration" board not the one you planed? Would've showed it worked better if you hadn't changed boards after setting up. imo
@MyGarageWoodshop
@MyGarageWoodshop 7 жыл бұрын
Yup, I did! I switched boards! I filmed the explanation several times with the board i put through the planer, but every time I looked over the video i shot---it was hard to see how warped that old board was( the one with the blue stripes) on screen. In video, it was hard to appreciate how much the sled supported the board. I don't know why but that happens sometimes when filming projects. Stuff in real life doesn't look good or translate well to video. I finally gave up and used another board that was lighter in color, badly warped, and could easily be seen "stabilized" on the sled. That board, however, is rare hackberry that I milled out of a tree....and its also has a book match brother. Those two boards are going to be used later this year when they finish drying. I wasn't ready to cut into them yet. I was not willing to sacrifice that beautiful board for the sake of the video. I hope that answers your question. thank you for watching. Cheers!

Jackson Smith it wasn’t click bait at all. Even if he didn’t give an explanation which he did by the way it still wasn’t click bait. The video was to demonstrate the jig and he did that. Switching boards made no difference at all. Don’t be so quick to jump to conclusions mate. It’s all good. Cheers mate and happy trails

one of the best ideas I've seen in a long time.Everyone has a 12" plus planer but few have a 12" jointer. Thank you so much, Trigger, i thought so too when i first laid eyes on it thru ShopNotes. It definitely helps us guys who don't have much space or income for a massive jointer. I hope this helps you in your shop too. Thanks for watching and reaching out, brother. would love to hear from you again. And can i just say.......That one hell of name, Trigger Finger, just awesome!

My hat's off to you! The production of your videos, is simply my favorite! Clear, detailed, but in a way that clarifies and identifies potential roadblocks! One of the very few channels that incorporates music properly! That's hard!(rare) I dislike using my jointer. Finicky, to adjust and maintain. This sled just jumped to the top of my projects list!

"Now I want to make one. Even though I have a jointer, it could be useful for wider stock. I'm liking your image overlays too!" Right on! in my mind eye i see you doing some chainsaw milling of a log then after your slabs are dry- i see you throwing a slab onto a planner sled to flatten it! all the while you are wearing that trapper hat with the ear flaps and a big gold chain with a " W " on it, and driving that golf cart that for some reason has hydraulics on it, slow motion shots, mean mofu mug close-ups...... wow. i really went there for a good second. sorry. im back. i guess you can tell how much i like your videos now. lol. thanks, man!

Wow, man! I just accidentally stumbled across this video, and I'm glad I did. I have a tiny little shop, and I don't have the space, money or power for a decent sized jointer. The Planer Sled is brilliant. I need one! But that's not all. Your explanations on-camera are clear and concise, your camera positions are well thought out, and your video is well edited. i know what you mean, Frank, whenever i see jigs like this i always scrutinize whether or not they are effective as well. Most often than not i end up passing up on stuff like this because im a pessimist at heart. LOL. I don't have much time under my belt with this jig, but so far it has flattened both boards i have put through it. Once i get a couple of months with it, i will probably end up making an "update" video to share my experience with the sled. thank you s o much Frank, for watching and commenting!

Very good video, excellent explanation. Use of this sled really opens up opportunities to make use of badly warped pieces in a small shop. I've got a 6" jointer and would LIKE a 12" jointer, but size and cost keep that from happening. This gives everybody with a 12 or 13" jointer the ability make perfect flat pieces. And quickly too! Love it!
