Star Wars legend Dave Prowse, who played Darth Vader in the first three movies, here reveals how the role helped to save young lives - by engaging children with his other and 'favourite' role as the Green Cross Code Man.
As the road safety superhero he fronted a series of TV ads and also visited schools to help children to cross roads safely and during his 10-years in the role the campaign halved the road accident figures in the UK.
"All the kids knew the Green Cross Code Man was really Darth Vader and it was Darth Vader talking to them about road safety", he recalls here in this 2011 Waterstone's book signing interview in Sheffield, chatting to his good pal Graham Walker of The Star, one of many interviews they did together.
They also chat about favourite Star Wars memories, his other iconic roles and champion bodybuilding career alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and how he even trained Christopher Reeve for his role in Superman.
