It's back. It isn't what I had planned, but it's back. The incredible feat of crossing Wales, or even a country, in a straight line is one that as far as I'm aware is yet to be accomplished, and here I am having another stab at it. Join me and Welsh Greg as we attempt to successfully conquer this brand new route, and all of it's inevitable obstacles; hedgerows, barbed wire, forests, and steep mountains, and due to some much more favourable weather and the small matter of a global pandemic, a distinct increase in human presence...

I can already imagine the conversation between a welsh farmer and their wife: "Honey, can you come to the window?" "what is it?" "it's that bloody man from last year again, hopping over our fences even though there's a gate right next to him - and he's convinced some other mad bloke to do it with him." EDIT: The reply section appears to have been hijacked by some Welsh farmers who are currently having a friendly debate on how to spell non-existent words.

As someone from Wales - Farmers are the bane of my existence when you just want to go for a scenic walk. Walk down a random country path and a farmer will emerge out of the treeline like Homer Simpson out of a hedge. Like he had been there for thousands of years, waiting for that one moment someone ventures onto his property.

As a farmer, can i just say that i LOVE how well kept those fences are? New poles (mostly), taught wires and a topwire to keep animals from pushing the fence netting down.
@olesams
@olesams 3 жыл бұрын
And in that line of thought. If you plan to do more of these videos, please procure some equipment made to scale fences. Because you two trying to be gentle but stepping on the netting IS damaging the fences. And again, that is quite aggravating. Because you want to test yourselves not deviating from this line of yours. But you dont have a care for the work people put into keeping their farms.

My two brothers (one of them once winner of Hometown Roulette), a friend of ours and me just returned from a Straight Line Mission across the Taunus, near to Frankfurt, Germany. It was only 10 kilometers and luckily we had almost no hedge rows to pass through, but instead lots of dense forest and steep climbs. Thank you for inspiring us to accomplish this challenge and keep on making impressive videos like these!

@kami3000

Switzerland would be hard, I agree. From north to south you have to cross the Alps sooner or later which is impossible unless you have an army of elephants at your disposal. There's a chance you could get from the NE Bodensee to the SW Lac Leman in a slightly curved line but it's all either buildings, highways or railroads there.

Switzerland is only possible if you do some sort of cross section East to West /West to East in the northern part of the country, even then you will have to face buildings cities and such. But yeah the alps in the south, you can go through them, but in a straight line ? no it's literally suicidal Andorra might be possible, I'm not sure though. Or like any region of a european country, not the country itself

Surprisingly enough Thomas Ulrich has crossed Switzerland in a straight line a few years ago. He went on the longest possible straight line from west to east through the alps. The Direttissima that he did is an absolutely insane feat.

Shout out Greg. I got diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 23 and after that happened I got in much better shape than ever. I run and workout often now when before I did minimal actual exercise. It’s almost like a blessing in disguise, it sounds really weird saying that because the medication here in the states is an arm and a leg per month which is terrible but It gave me an insane amount of motivation to get really active

I remember watching the first one around a year ago. It was a warm summer night. The the wind whipped across the lake as I rode my motorcycle around the twisting road, but my travel was cut short. My motorcycle broke down leaving me stranded and pitiful. After a long laborious journey home, I sat down and saw your video. halfway through and I was nursed back to life, beaming a wide grin from cheek to cheek.
