Straightening Tractor Lift Arm

3 жыл бұрынWhile clearing small trees, we hit a stump with the tractor saw and bent the lower lift on the Kubota L35. Pulled the arm, put it in the charcoal forge to heat it up. Used a sledge hammer to straighten and then reinstalled it. Worked great. Triple T Ranch & Sawmill on Choctaw Ridge is homesteading with a sawmill and anvil.

pouring cold water on hot steel like that might make it brittle, be careful. better let it cool down on its own next time.

Adam, thanks For the comment. I had the same concern. It probably cooled down over a 5 minute time period. I think when the previous owner used a cutting torch to make a hole, he probably left it on the tractor so it annealed. So you saw my best guess at tempering an unknown metal. I have cut another 10 trees along a fence row and its still ok.
