► Yosemite National Park, located in Central California's western Sierra Nevada, is bordered on the southeast by the Sierra National Forest and on the northwest by the Stanislaus National Forest, and is one of the most famous National Parks in the world.
This expansive wilderness, covering almost 1,200 square miles, was federally protected in 1864, and declared a National Park on the 1st of October 1890 by a Congressional act. Almost 100 years later in 1984, it was officially designated as a World Heritage Site. This place is famous for its captivating waterfalls, clear streams, ancient and giant sequoia groves, lakes, mountains, meadows and glaciers, as well as its most famous feature, Yosemite Valley.
It was carved by glacial dynamics, weathering and erosion spanning 30 million years, and its granite walls are more than twice the height of the Empire State Building. The Park itself attracts over 4 million people every year, but in recent times a certain intrigue has been generated by this place for a more ominous reason.
Disappearances have taken place on this land, in many cases, there is no explanation or evidence to explain what happened. Some of these people vanish without a trace, and after a thorough search of the area, no clues or leads can be found.
