A set of characters were cut at the last minute. Rather than redo the credits, they just skipped that section entirely.

There’s been a few little oddities the ultra-short credits of the New Year 1988 episode and the modified 1991 theme making a few early appearances in the 80s also.

This seems to be an issue with the Drama version only, because the same episode from a VHS recording of the original BBC broadcast doesn't have this problem: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNloeNOk0J2Yp2g.htmlm22s

That’s really interesting! I wonder why Drama went to all that trouble? Maybe when I have some free time I’ll go through each one to see whose name(s) was cut out 😅

Why strange, do you mean cos the credit for Mark and Mandy quickly changes to Pauline and Arthur? I wondered what the logo was at first, thought that was strange, then realised it’s the Drama channel. I remember they used to list the characters by their full names then changed to just first names.
