So i was waiting for the end of the summer hiking season to do the overland track for free. In the end i did it a bit more sooner than planned but still got some snow on the way. I decided to come of the Overland track and join the Arm river track. I saw one hiker the whole the first day on the Arm river track. I had no map as it was i choice i made after seeing the track. The overland track was just a bit busy. I walked on the Arm river track just till after sunset i walked some way of the track to find a camping spot in the bush in a clearing. That night what i heard sounded like a large creature with two legs walking. I am use to wild animals camping alone i have over 1000 nights wild camping on my own i am very use to animal sounds and the sound of humans outside the tent which this sound was not. I never get scared of sounds outside the tent but this time i was. I was so scared i could not turn on the gopro just record the sounds. This thing was right next to the tent i was convicted it could attack me at any moment. I had penknife at standby. It was outside the tent what seemed like 5 minutes. I looked around in the morning for any signs what could been but found nothing. Safe to say i was very pleased after a long walk to find a road sadly road it self was a no go for cars as lots of fallen trees so was long walk along the road to another road where i started walking and and hitchhiking. Lucky in Tasmania getting a lift is easy.
Not what i heard but In 1986, thylacines Tasmanian Tiger were declared extinct by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Tasmanian government. Even after being declared extinct, sightings continues to increase. Sightings are seen in Tasmania, Mainland Australia and New Guinea. In 1930, Wilf Batty shot and killed a thylacine. This thylacine would be considered the last known wild thylacine. In 1933, a thylacine by the name of Benjamin, was captured and sold to the Hobart Zoo. In September of 1936, Benjamin would die due to the negligence of volunteer zookeepers.
