I enjoyed this episode. She needed Kali to show her she wasn't alone in her powers, and to teach her a little bit about how to handle them. Using anger might not be a good idea, but it shows her she can use emotion to amp herself. El needed to learn a few things away from Hopper and Mike and now she has.

My local news paper just announced that the next season is being filmed here again. They are doing work on a historic home here, the ‘Creel House’…It used to be a bed and breakfast called the Claremont House.

There is a lot of talk from characters saying this is your home. And this episode was her journey she needed to prove to her none of those were her home, her real home is with her friends.

People absolutely hate on this episode, and I guess I understand it from the standpoint of not intercutting between the two groups or whatever, but I think it was very important for El's development, and I thought it was very interesting, so I don't understand why people are so determined to hate it. We got so much lore out of it and I thought it was really useful stuff.

Her mom didn't send her there. As they showed she was saying 8 cuz the channel 8 news.

It was a great character arch but for one it’s great this wasn’t a weekly show that you had to wait a week to see the next episode leaving episode 6 like that and then ok so we are going to avoid the continuation of the crazy story going on and take this side quest and we will have you wait another week to find out what happened

I don't think this episode is the worst or out of the way. Because this shows 11 the contrast of how her powers could be used for bad even if there's a seemingly "valid" reason behind it. 11 got to know she did not want to kill innocents. Instead, she wants to save her friends from the real danger that is lurking in Hawkins and the guys who are doing it.

We never saw Papa die we saw the monster jumping on him and they cut away.

Finally someone that appreciates this episode!! It got so much hate that so called “fans” took things too far, and harassed poor 12 year old Millie as if she was responsible for it! I remember the disgusting comments about her and the actress who plays Kali when this episode came out, and I never understood why!! Yes, is different and a little bit campy, but I love the introduction of 8, and an episode focusing on 11’s personal journey before she goes back to Hawkins. It would’ve been boring if Hopper would’ve just been “oh btw, I’m hiding 11.” And also, I thought it was really cool that 8 had different powers. Makes you wonder more about 1, 2, 3, etc!

I actually hope Kali comes back in the final season. I know there's a lot of discourse on the internet about her character because of plotholes, but I honestly don't mind any of it cuz she's wayyy too cool for everyone to just pretend she was never a part of the show🤷🏻‍♂️ I hope the writers found a way to tie her character back into the story one last time!

Maybe that’s why Kali showed El a butterfly..to hint at transformation. This was an important and rewarding episode, not deserving of the “bandwagon” of criticism it received. Instead of differing, valid critiques, ppl just say “it’s bad, it’s the worst episode, etc etc” and feel like it makes them seem more discriminating, intelligent etc when in reality they are just mouth breathers.

This episode is the only misstep in all four seasons. It is by far the worst episode in the so-called weak season...and it's still not that bad. I mean, it's not great, but it's not abysmal, but thankfully back to normal now.

This episode wrongly got a lot of hate from supposed fans. I believe this was going to be a sort of pilot for a show based on Kali but haters quashed that. As well as any others ST type shows. Congrats, so instead of having 2( or more ) Stanger Things shows to enjoy you guys got to wait YEARS between seasons for one. Remember Season 3 came out in 2019 and season 4 in 2022 and season 5 won't be out until 2025

For me, this is the worst episode of the series. She takes off to Chicago and hooks up with a bunch of terrible, boring, one-off characters for some stupid reason. The skyline has buildings that didn't exist in the period (I grew up in Chicago, 1969 to 1995). It's absolute garbage.

This episode is so useless. Especially after multiple seasons without them ever bringing them up again. USELESS
