Finally somebody who likes season 3

Well tbf they did spend over 5 hours with him. Dustin said it when they were walking up the hill. Just to point that out but I agree with what most you are saying.

Yea I couldn't really stand Mike this season he like so mean😭

I think Mike’s a bit of a jerk too but it’s a pretty honest depiction of young people and their first “love” VS friend group absolutely love these kids ❤️

In my opinion, Mike is the best character this season when it comes to the stupid relationship drama stuff. He did literally nothing wrong. He was acting like a kid. Yeah, he *could* have spent more time with his friends. But he literally thought el was dead for a whole year. It makes sense he'd spend as much time with her as he could. And as for hopper, I completely agree. I feel like too many people excuse his behavior because they like him, but his behavior thos whole season made me uncomfortable because he was acting like a super toxic man-child. He literally sabotaged his daughter's relationship and then celebrated about it. Then he was toxic around Joyce the whole season until the last few episodes. And then there was max and el who made almost entirely baseless assumptions and treated mike like he was satan just because he was showing genuine concern for el's safety(though i dont blame el that much because it honestly seemed like she didnt truly understand what it meant to "break up" with someone). Honestly, I blame the tonal shift they tried for this season.

I like her but I mean that doesn’t constitute for her to go out and cheat with an 18 year old, her husband goes out and provides for his family every day to make sure they’re well looked after with a good job, if she’s feeling lonely or anything she can talk to him about it after all communication is one of the biggest things in a relationship, also Nancy and wills relationships at their age are normal

@@JazMegan of course it doesn't justify adultery. however it still explains her then mentality, thought process and pattern of behaviour. explanation doesn't need to equal justification. she's in the wrong here but you can still attempt to dissect and understand her as a character.

@@JazMegan Did she go out and cheat on her husband though? We don't know. It implies that she stopped because she realized what she was throwing away if she does it. But you also have to understand that she also spent the season and part of the first season reading romance novels. This became a big thing in the 80's (it was always a big thing but the story format changed drastically in itself as well). She's feeling that unfulfillment that created the Feminine Mystique. Holly's about to go to school and she'll have all day to do nothing but "keep house". You'll see her talking about really big issues of the time over the phone with someone but she's a sexpot at the pool. She feels unseen and possibly old? (However that is not a critique on the actress who is the sexiest lady, seriously, lady, my goodness)! It was something I saw in my mom and my aunts. You saw it in other ladies who were the "hot moms". Guys can never forget that society always tells us that we're not pretty enough, smart enough, strong enough, whatever enough. I have been married to my husband for almost 20 years, been together for 24. He knows that it's not his fault (at least all the time) that I feel unseen, unworthy, and ugly...I just feel exhausted from all the requirements that are expected of me. Also, I was a voracious avid reader as a child and stole my mom and older sister's romance novels from the 80's. Those were wild. There was 2 styles of romance novels then (strong heroines and heroes, or semi-strong heroines who experienced a SA with or without the hero present) and I read those at 7. The books without the SA were more love stories and actually fun stories to read. The ones with it...could be these amazing stories that started from a horrible moment and even blossom into a revenge/redemption arc which was awesome or keep bordering just, get somewhere good eventually.

I personally didn't like the tonal shift. Me personally, I kind of hated the more comedic shifts. Especially with how they made hopper an immature man-child for a lot of the season because "haha. He's an overprotective dad." The way they had him act this season was super toxic and immature. I preferred when the characters were more realistic. Fortunately, this was the only season I felt that way for. Seasons 1,2, and 4 are all great

Yeah, Billy and Robin are both either some of the youngest of their grade or some of the oldest depending on what grade they are actually in. It could be either way but I’m thinking along the lines of what you stated.

@@grahamations cinematography also integrates the composition of the scenes and sometimes season 4 feels like a clip show with majority of the footage being flashbacks. I think every season has its strengths, but as far as cinematography goes, s3 exceeds in my opinion.

Im very late to this, but imo that's not a good excuse. It's an excuse for her being attracted to Billy, but not a good excuse for her to try and act on that attraction without ending things with her husband. Like they said, if I were the husband and I found out, I'd likely never fully trust her again

Calling it how I see it

I understand Mike more than many people because all my friends were in serious relationships (in some cases before high school), and I just had to slowly accept that they had lives beyond us hanging out all the time. They’re are still in those relationships today and we’re all about to be 30, and I’m the only one who is single but I try to make plans with them every few months. I have seen a lot of people destroy Mike post season 2 and I think it’s unfair, he is just trying to spend time with his girlfriend who he spent an entire year thinking that she was dead. Who wouldn’t do the same.
