Oh my goodness! When you laid down the first wash, I couldn't imagine what would appear as you progressed. This is fantastic! It makes me think of forests, canyons, and water. I realize that it's best to relax, take your time and let it flow!

I have watched all of you spontaneous videos and STILL, every time , I learn something new!! You have helped me advance in watercolor SO MUCH over the last 4 years Steve, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Through painting I've been able to get over some very difficult times and you’ve been there at every point, like a guiding light, encouraging and helping me overcome! You’re an amazing person, an inspirational and talented artist, and i hope you know you’re not just helping people paint, you’re doing much more! Thanks and never stop!

@oliferous It's been extreemly therapeutic and helpful for me too, to do watercolour paintings ! I even sold some, for good prices. 🙏🌟🎶 During extreemly hard times, especially emotionally, it kept me on track, made me grounded and relaxed. Much more than oil or acrylic paintings. It's a world appart. And I love it. I discovered it only because I didn't have the means nor the space to do other type of paintings and art. This was a good option. What a revelation. 🎉🙂 I must take it up again! 🙏 🎨 I just found this channel, only recently. Very good teacher.

I really loved the outcome. It's amazing how a few marks can show a whole new light to an area. I was thinking where would I mark - I had the waterfall and a mountain behind those fir trees. Can't wait to play and see if I can get something on my paper

Hello Steve, My name is Christine I just wanted to introduce myself to you and more than likely write you a short novel.😅 I want to thank you so much for sharing your spontaneous watercolor landscaping artwork with us. I absolutely love watching your videos! I love working with wet on wet or dry paper with wet, wet paint (carefully)😅 I do use Strathmore watercolor paper I would like to start using 100% cotton paper also, I would like to start using the Princeton brushes or whatever good brushes I can afford. I’m 62, I think I can re-up my game with finer paper and brushes. I know I’ll become more free and more creative. A lil info about me🙃😉At one time in my life, at a a very young age, I worked as a baker. I would work overnights at my Dad’s bakery. (A small fun fact.) My father would pick up my brothers and I at 11p.m. after an awesome concert and then go straight to work at the bakery.😎 I also was a graphic designer a screen printer and a phlebotomist. Point being, production is my middle name.😉 So, all of my work had to be fined detailed. I certainly didn’t mind that. Then I discovered abstract 😮 colors too??? The joke that goes around is “What is an abstract?”😂 whatever you want it to be. Just thinking out of the box, being creative and most of all happy. So, I was used to angles and rulers. I also said often “ I feel like I’m cheating .” But soon discovered that my abstract painting was literally detailed 😅 I can be a stickler when it comes to artwork. As some artists are. It took yrs. before I allowed myself some freedom. Watercolor isn’t easy. But I do love painting the feathers on a bird, or paint a rock or brick. I absolutely love trees.I can draw or paint trees in detail or abstracty. Seascapes, birds and so much more - not so much. I’d like to have more freedom. I know that my creativity is within. And so lots of practice is about to happen with me with the help of you and others.😊 I do use acrylics on lrg canvases with lots of water. Hahaha I never squeezed the bottom of the bristle of the brush so the paint can drop paint blobs 😉What a fun idea! I just got back into painting. I am truly looking forward in working with you☀️🎉 I told you this was going to be a short novel😅 God Bless and Thank you Steve My son’s name is Steve-okay! Enough already!😅

Hullo Steve I do enjoy watching you do this creation of this spontaneous paintings. Now I have tried this a time or six, buy I just never get as good of results as you get time after time! Now I suppose that you would not post results that are a total flop, would you? Now I do not have MaimeriBlu paints, but I have QoR to DaVinci paints and even a few oddball brands in between! So I do not believe it is my paint choices. Yes my paper is 100% cotton and I even purchased a few sheets of Strathmore just in case that was my problem. I just need to relax and accept what comes. I hope I will get a few better results as I go forward and I have tried this technique several times over the last 10 years, so it is not something I have tried once and given up on, :::::sigh:::: Thanks Steve I will try to relax and just watch you work and try another attempt maybe later this month! Thanks. Please keep them coming, well I guess we got 2 more in this series coming, right? Right! See ya down the line.

Seems like the first method (wet-on-wet) can end up being lighter because it uses more water and would be good as a first layer. The second method can be more intense because it can use less water and could also work as a second layer.
