Modi Meets Indian Diaspora In Moscow

On his visit to Moscow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Indian diaspora there. India will open two new consulates in Russia, he announced. Praising the diaspora, the prime minister said "those sitting inside the Indian mission are rajdoot (diplomats) but those outside are rashtradoot (brand ambassadors of India). Hailing India-Russia ties, PM Modi said they have stood the test of time and are based on the strong foundations of mutual trust and mutual respect. He also lauded the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin for providing positive momentum to bilateral relations.

Obviously, PM Modi mistakes Russia for the Soviet Union when he says of long-lasting friendship and past pages of common history. This is painful to see for me as a Ukrainian. It is hard to imagine a more inappropriate time for the Indian politician to express admiration and friendship to a country which is waging wars against its neighbours, bombing civilian objects and wiping out entire towns (Bakhmut, Volnovakha, Avdiivka, etc.). If India wants a partner for economic prosperity, she needs to look elsewhere. Russia is doomed. It is not a right thing to do what Russia does to Ukraine. There is no prosperity or development in it, only grief and destruction. If you think that you get profit off other people's lives, you will pay bitterly in the end. I hope PM Modi and those Indians made by him to believe that Russia is a friend will soon understand the error of such thinking. Ukraine has never done anything bad to the Indian people and this fervour in supporting the bloodthirsty villain, which Putin is, should stop. Prosperity and kindness must go hand in hand. Shun the war-mongering Russian regime and lean toward peace-loving democracies, such as Ukraine. We have a lot in common.
