fairy tail was the first long anime that i ever watched. it gets a lot of hate for its use of 'the power of friendship' but it'll always be one of my favourite animes. so many goated moments, i can't wait to see your reactions!

The dub is very solid and in my opinion better in certain parts. Iv rewatched this show a lot and have listened to both. Grew up with this show for half my life so it has a special place in my heart. Glad to see you guys watching it.

Fairy tails female characters are top tier. Lucy has some of the best female character development in the entire series, especially when compared to female leads in other anime. To answer your question, I personally prefer the English Dub. I’m not saying the Japanese dub is bad by any means, but the English dub just hits different, at least for me. Also, Fairy Tail was my first ever anime and to this day it is my absolute favorite anime of all time. I’ve watched it all the way through at least 10 times at this point.

The wiki is wrong about who is the Main Character that site needs a update it´s Both Natsu the pink hair and Lucy the blond the Main Characters of the series the story revolves around both of them the author confirmed it in 2016 interview + Hiro Mashima also said the reasoning for Lucy in the france interview *M: For me, in FT, the main characters are Natsu and Lucy. There were already a lot of characters in the guild, and I told myself that it would be nice to put forward, a girl* the author wanted the main series to be easier to follow from the point of view of the second MC she´s in the same position as the new readers she also does Natsu´s job of Story Narration instead of him because the author said Natsu can´t narrate for the readers to gain readers' empathy Natsu a kind of guy, who shows, what he thinks through his actions The characters are fun and some are badass and the backstories are good sorry for the long words but it had to be done to avoid confusion

I may be biased because this is my first anime but its definitely one of my favorites. One of the main things about it is they spend most of the episodes in season 1 getting you ready and attached to all the characters then the storyline unfolds. Im really excited you started this series and cant wait to see what you think

just a fun fact...since natsu is a dragon slayer and since they have heightened senses..he tends to have vertigo on the extreme end.. Hence the motion sickness

The dub has some really premium voice actors including colleen clinkenbeard which is probably the biggest voice actor for anime besides christopher sabat

I feel like main character depends on your definition. If the main character is the one we see the story from, then it’s totally Lucy, but if it’s the one that’s like hyped up the most, it’s probably Natsu. Truthfully, the show is from the perspective of Lucy and it just so happens that Lucy is Natsu’s biggest hypeman.

this is one of the animes where the English dub voice acting is arguably better, I love the Japanese voices too, but the English dub really did amazing!

A lot of Fairy Tail characters actually do die just not the main characters and the heroes don't kill unless necessary. Also, the Fairy Tail fandom has to be tight since the series gets a lot of undeserved crap for being honest about embracing all the Shonen tropes unlike other series which try to subvert, deconstruct or obscure their use of those tropes.

I've watched both but the DUB cast was absolutely spot on! I'm all fired up!! The dragonslayer roars!! Pafooom! Also because fairytail has mostly English names, so in Japanese it's not pronounced as it is(not being racist btw 💀). And a lot of the times the jokes don't sound funny in sub, I'm not sure why, maybe because they try to subtitle as precisely as they can and it just becomes plain.

japanese is usually better but i prefer the english dub for fairytail its very well done

Sub is much better. And as from episode 11 the show goes wild!! You will enjoy after ep 11. You can jump to it if you want to. The pacing goes so much better

The plot & fan service in this anime is S-tier. Enough to keep you invested, and with hundreds of episodes, you'll have plenty of content. And the english dub is pretty fire too.

Natsu can get a lift from Happy without problems but other modes of transportation he gets sick. Being his friend does not count he is still moving.

This is an anime you MUST watch dubbed because the dub is amazing! It's one of the best dubs

Keep in mind that the main character is the guild. Another thing to keep in mind this that wizards like natsu have been training with magic for years at this point this isnt like black clover where episode 1 he gains his power or starts training with it. Fun fact: Natsu なつ means summer in Japanese Dragon slayers can eat there element (natsu being fire/heat) and convert it to magic power it kinda heals them and gives them a stamina boost too.

This is one of my all-time favorite anime, I enjoyed this a lot when I first watched this series. Your good timing, though the sequel called 100 years quest, is coming out this july 😅.

I vote for subbed. A fun fact: Black clover was inspired from Fairy Tail. Fairy tail was not my first anime it was Inuyasha and Yu Yu Hakusho But it’s 2:54 my fav and no.1 anime Here is a rule to watch Fairy Tail to enjoy it. Don’t compare it or try predicting it to another anime. It will take aways the fun as many anime’s that you probably watched and that came after Fairy tail have same base line of Shonen. Just my advice to enjoy, but upto you.

110% watch it in English, relax enjoy yourself, it’s a good anime you want to watch and not spend all your time reading fucking subtitles Also, the English voice acting is amazing. And you can’t really get a feel for this anime unless you watch at least five episodes. For me the first episode is a completely different vibe… I mean, it really doesn’t go anywhere interesting until the four core characters come together , which takes at least four episodes I think

Lets goo fairy tail is my fav anime, hopefully u guys keep watching it, the only cons of this show is power of friendship and the fight animation but there is some good fight in ft Btw the main character was supposed to be lucy but the creator change it again and make both natsu and lucy the main lead

Btw. if you gonna continue beyond first few arcs/episodes: Daphne arc (episodes 69-75) are the only actual filler episodes in this show. There are like three longer anime only arcs, but they commonly were either written either with the author of the manga or he designed the characters for them. But most importantly - all those arcs are canonised by the manga later on and have been referenced few times (Daphne arc is the only one that isn't and it actually have some conflicting elements). And they are notoriously not bad (especially Key of the Starry Sky is liked by a lot of people, sometimes more than some actual manga arcs). You can skip all of them, if you feel like it, but I feel like a lot of people would still like to see them - and there will be characters and plot points that will be referenced and could confuse you. Also if you won't skip - it's actually easier to not miss really good episodes based on the special chapters and light novels. Other than that - I hope you keep watching this in sub. The English dubbing for this isn't the worst and has big fanbase, but there are so many reactions with it already, that it would be nice to have a proper subbed reaction. From my personal opinion - Japanese has way better emoting and there are some really stellar performances especially from the female cast of the show. Oh also be prepared for way too much fan-service from ALL characters. 3:00 Oh the fandom can also be toxic. Fairy Tail in general started and mostly came out during the Big 3 era and was kinda on similar level of popularity (it probably would have been Big 4, if not for the fact that Fairy Tail is not a Shounen Jump series, but comes from different magazine). It always got the most heat, always compared to Big 3 (main reason why author considered cancelling the series, due to getting way too harassed on Twitter). I would say - it's not the masterpiece of the storytelling and maturity, but it doesn't try to be one. It's Shounen - with all good and bad traits of a show targeted at 12 years old boys. One thing to be said though - Mashima (the author) writes it well for most part, planning a lot of reveals and plot points since the very beginning of the show. It got hit by the "poorly written, too quick" finale similar to Bleach and Naruto. But it got slightly fixed in anime version and since then we also have a sequel manga that fixes a lot of issues and closes a lot of plot points people wanted to see finished in original manga. Sequel is gonna get an anime adaptation later in this year, so it's good time to start Fairy Tail reactions. In general - don't expect a lot and overhype yourself and you won't get disappointed. This is not JoJo's Bizarre Adventures. For me it's really fun show, when you just go with the flow of it and let the Shounen tropes just be there. It is not known for good animation or groundbreaking power systems and story. But it is a cool and suprisingly broad world, that is just good vibes. One main thing people complain about - is power of friendship in this show. But this is Shounen and Mashima actually wrote it into the story as actual power in the story - one of the sources of magic and strength. It's once again - a Shounen so friendship, family and emotions are always something that is an important plot point driving the show, it's there go be a lesson for the kids.

Watch it in English! Definitely recommend the English for this one!

For sub or dub, either one is fine to me. For some reason I first watched this in dub and really liked the voice actors. I eventually switched to sub bc the dub wasn’t fully caught up. ive never understood the culture around watching anime in Japanese we don't do that with any other kind of content watch it in your language if its available so that you get everything out of it also lucy was supposed to be the main character Hero Mashima had to change it to natsu
