Some landlords can’t agree (for example apartments) because of other tenants. Some landlords choose to rent out as pet free because it easily makes it a fast buy for people who have allergies or just generally don’t like animals. This is coming from the perspective of someone who loves all animals (even if I personally wouldn’t keep some as pets. Sorry to the spider and snake families, I don’t dislike them I just think I’d accidentally hurt them and therefore feel more comfortable with them at a distance where they can’t touch me) and has had multiple throughout my life, but can also see why some places are better labeled as not pet hospitable, especially if you consider how it affects the animals too. Had it been a small apartment complex with a big dog, wouldn’t you think it’s a little sad? That being said, in situations where it doesn’t negatively affect someone else (or their property) usually landlords will be a bit more lenient. In this case they were renting what looks to be a house with some form of a yard (so this means their neighbors, if allergic, shouldn’t technically be close enough to have a reaction) and it’s also a cat that seems to not be to troublesome (like scratching the floors or walls) so the landlord probably didn’t have too much to worry about and felt that they could make an exception. So yay that they feasibly could and did 🎉

@@jaybird5218i feel like there's more people with pets than people who don't want to be around pets or are very allergic. or maybe it's a regional thing but i know very few people who don't have pets, and since the majority of apartments already don't allow pets i feel like apartments that do allow them would be rented out much sooner

@@leaf111 there are people who are allergic and also have pets despite having a varying allergic reaction to them. But also, I think most pet owners can also understand a big bouncy dog with high energy would not be good in an apartment. Cats you can get away with for the most part, except for if they have extreme zoomies or are loud. Another reason some places don’t allow pets is also because the walls are thin enough that a dog barking or cat constantly meowing might be heard by the neighbors. Apartments are usually meant to be cheaper too, and personally I believe if you can’t cover all your own needs and still have money left over then you probably shouldn’t get an animal (since you should have extra money in case they get hurt and need to go to the vet) Obviously tho, some people value the companionship from their animal more than they value the animal’s happiness (which I also can’t fault them for until its negatively impacting the animal) Keep in mind, people can do things to make up for those situational issues, it’s just whether they try or not.

A wonderful thing....

My dad has said that he is willing to pay all the extra fees when he eventually moves out of this cursed home (cursed as in it’s horrible and barely doing enough in some ways and things seem to never be properly fixed because the landlord sucks) but they still refuse to allow him to have a pet. There are pets anyway because the landlord doesn’t deserve the respect of us following that rule
