The little cat reminds me of the stray cat my friend adopted. Friendliest cat you would ever want to meet. It seems from watching this show a lot of equipment vets can easily access in North America might not be so available in Australia, like they had an episode with their first ever cleft palate surgery at one place and the only prosthetics sizer in the region who still gets the prosthetics themselves made in the US, etc. I know in other industries like beauty it's really hard to get stuff imported to Australia.
@terriatca1
@terriatca1 2 жыл бұрын
Something of that magnifying strength is more used in vascular surgery, it would be too high powered for looking at the paw for glass. A low tech thing we use, in a people hospital, is masking tape and Elmer's glue.

@@BankruptMonkey Why is it so difficult? I mean, isn't Australia a modern-day country? Don't we have a good amount of Information Sharing and international trading? I have to admit that I haven't consider that Australia would be so...closed up, for lack of a better term.
@resourcedragon
@resourcedragon 2 жыл бұрын
You can certainly get the glasses with magnifiers in them in Australia, I've seen dentists and tattoo artists use them here. Possibly Kate should invest in some. In more general terms, yes, Australia is an advanced, 1st world nation. However, we have a relatively small population and we are a long way from both Europe and North America. So there are some things we don't have in stock here, that have to be ordered from Europe or the US if we need them. Some things don't get to Australia because they are not approved for importation. Sometimes that's a good thing, (not everything you can buy in the US is safe!) sometimes it's just really frustrating, there is a solution to a problem we can't get. In particular, mediation is approved by the therapeutic goods administration (TGA) and that can hold up good medications, as well as keeping quack "remedies" out.
@BankruptMonkey
@BankruptMonkey 2 жыл бұрын
@@jeannegallegos8410 I am not really an expert on supply chains and can't tell you, I've just observed that supply chains seem to be limited in vet medicine and are widely known to be limited in the beauty industry. I think because Australia is an island and is so far from other countries that makes shipping much more expensive to Australia than it is to most other countries that are connected by land to at least one other continent and can do cheap ground transport like from China to Germany or do a shorter flight/ shipping like from China to the US.

Poor golden boy, I stepped on glass once too (it went right through my fat pad in the bottom of my foot..literally went half-way through my foot!)..I had not just a gash but it looked like it gouged out a huge gash in my foot, I'm not sure if there were shards in mine but they did wash my foot out good which hurt like hell. I couldn't actually get stitches as my foot wouldn't numb (it only numbed on our way home and it wasn't my foot that numbed but my calf for some reason), instead they glued the flap down which later died and had to be clipped off, so it was SUCH a long recovery which utterly sucked because I was in elementary and unable to play and run around like a normal kid for an entire year. I also feel so bad for the sweet cat, he's such a lovely boy.

The cinematography/editing for the sections in the reptile park really leveled up. Almost movie like in some ways.

I just lost my cat. I just need to tell someone. He was 4 months old and ran under foot . I landed on his head. My heart is broken.

I am so very sorry! I have lost a kitten the same way and it is heartbreaking! Don't beat yourself up, it wasn't your fault! Even though it might not seem possible, your heart will heal and also remember the good times with your fur baby!

@@jessajohnson4761 thanks Jess. It's just soo hard to keep remembering when I get home from work he's not there to greet me. To curl up at my feet and pur . I can't even think of getting another. Everyone thinks I should but he was special. Never gave me trouble to shower him and dry him off. He was just precious

@@joevurt4131 Don't give up hope on getting another, but give yourself plenty of time to heal and you will know when you are ready. It's been two years and I just got a pair of brothers, I love them dearly and it has also helped me heal!

Baby teeth can be retained in humans too. My daughter had a tough baby tooth that actually had grown roots. It had to be removed for the adult tooth to come in. But it was HARD to remove!

Question: I'm an American (don't hold that against me). I live in Los Angeles CA. As far as I'm aware, desexing our pets is pretty commonplace. There are many medical benefits to both males & females to doing so. I didn't know this before but have learned this through the series. Not to mention shifting bad behavioral issues. I'm seeing that many pets in Australia and the UK don't seem to desex their doggies (nor cats). Was curious if there was a cultural reason why? No judgement as I am NOT a doctor so I don't pretend to know better. Just want to learn.

I love what all the vets do for all animals. I do have a question this cat is having surgery on his leg and vets are having a little trouble seeing what's going on inside. Can they use eyes magnification when doing this type of surgery.? GODSPEED for you all 🥰

If anyone's ever heard an animals tooth being removed in person, it is truly a disturbing thing to hear in my opinion. I had to shadow at a vet for high school, and they removed teeth a few times. It sounds so painful for the poor thing, but ik it's for the best. But the SOUND is just awful
Now THIS is entertainment! 🤣
