I vividly remember BTS attending a red carpet and hearing the racist photographers making racist comments towards them. So my heart goes out to Stray Kids as well, as an Asian person. Why does it seem like things just haven't changed in regards to how people view Asians...

They all heard those bad unrespectful comments. Even leeknow. He smirked at the end. And I really am proud of Chan to tell boys to go when that paparazzi said "everybody jump" .... They were sooo excited. They did not diserve that.

Photogs were pissed because the boys refused to line up in a straight line. They turned and posed according to how Hilfiger wanted his clothes displayed. SKZ was so professional. STAYS identified the photogs in record time. FAFO.

Things that were heard and done “I’m getting covid” (Said in the full video at 0:57 but it’s on Twitter) *Some of them mocking Japenese and Korean* *Continously yelling at skz* “They’re robots” (An asian stereotype) “How do you stand(or say) right in korean!” *Laughing at them instead of taking pictures* “Jump so you can show more emotions!” (They clearly didn’t seem to be happy at the photographers behavior) *Thinking skz didn’t speak English so they were shouting at them as if they were clueless or dumb* When Bangchan called the kids over to quickly leave the paparazzi said in a mocking tone *”As you were, as you were”* then bursted out laughing.

Being a US citizen, these things make me feel shame and so embarrassed, honestly. I'm an old lady but if I had been near these rude and disrespectful people, I would have ripped them a new hole! Just because you can say something doesn't mean you should say it. In my old age, I have zero patience for the jerks of the world. They should be ashamed and embarrassed as they made such fools of themselves. In my forty plus years of working with young kids, I always stressed manners and respect. I think it's something that isn't a priority anymore.

I had heard before that paparazzi could be very disrespectful to celebrities but this is too much. Their behavior is beyond ignorant and unprofessional.

More than angry it made me sad that that had to be their first experience at the Met. I know pretty much everyone like all the official interviewers and the other attendees were very kind and welcoming but I know that experiencing something like that can taint an overall good thing. I was really disappointed in those photographers and I really thinks it’s the popular idea within the US to think K-pop is totally lame and that’s it’s like funny to shit on it but more than that it was also racism. I just hope they had a great rest of the night. I know that Arian Grande preformed a beautiful set at the dinner and I know that both Bang Chan and Changbin are huge Ariana music fans so I hope that made their night special.

If you take a look at other artists on the carpet there were a lot of unemotional faces. But paparazzi didn't make disrespectful remarks toward the other star artists, paparazzi knew better knowing if the other artists heard them they wouldn't have a job if heard. Paparazzi were thinking Stray Kids knew no english and couldn't understand what they were saying.

As an American who lives in NY, I was beyond embarrassed and disgusted with the paps. I promise not all Americans are ignorant like that 😭 I hope the boys had fun inside and didn’t let that situation disturb the rest of the night

I really liked the interview with Emma Chamberlain. She knew exactly to whom she was speaking, and she was kind and respectful. It's so damn easy to treat people with a base level of respect like that. Except, apparently, when you're a middle-aged white American man. I can guarantee those reporters have no idea that they don't even make the tiniest fraction of the money each individual skz member makes, because they're so ignorant they didn't even know who skz are. In all honesty I’m happy for the guys. But the whole Met gala for me was full on distopian. Especially on my socials. Scrolling through celebs in costume and people being unalived in another part of the world at the same time. Also Tommy isn’t my fave in the sense of the fashion he brought to the Met (a bit underwhelming ngl the guys looked great but there was a lot of room to do better especially when it’s a event you can go full out on) and his political views/ties.

The thing about being expressionless and being robots really irked me. First, it's not an unusual racist take about Asians. Second, half of the people there posed with serious looks on their faces. Go look at Met Gala carpet photos - every other image is that kind of face, in particular from the men. But we didn't get any videos of these photographers mocking them for it, ot groaning about having to take their photo, or telling them to be interesting, or shouting at them to jump like performing monkeys. I was so upset for them on such a big event.

Yes unfortunately I had to hear them say all that in the live and I couldn't pause it to prosess because I would miss things being a live listening to all that I felt disgusted with those people as soon as Skz left I turned everything off😭😭😭I felt very sad that skz had to hear that for the first time at an event like this, in addition to being a big step in their career, if only those people did a little research they would know that at least of the eight, two have English as their first language, and that the others, even if it is difficult for them to speak or write it, it becomes easier to understand it

My thought was that if they were to say that stuff in front of too many Stays, the outcome might not be what they think it would be. ;-) But as much as we get angry about such racist behavior, we need to be strong for our guys and follow our "best leader" and do as he asks and ignore such behavior and not give these rude people any more publicity! Just stay focused on the positive aspect that Stray Kids is the first KPop group to attend the Met Gala (but I wonder if they will ever want to return). Hopefully they were treated much better in all other aspects of this event.

I don't think people realize just how much pressure and responsibility skz have being global artists AND TH's brand ambassadors. As a professional photographer you should act in a professional manner in any setting especially an event to this magnitude. I DON'T support anyone attacking or bullying/retaliating against the photographer's, I do support them having to be held accountable for their unprofessionalism as we would expect from anyone who is supposed to be performing a job. So yes the photographers should definitely be faced with repercussions of not being allowed to such events in future since they can not uphold their job with any class or decorum, but I have seen stays releasing their addresses online and that is too far and putting their families in danger. I do not believe our stray kids would back that behavior, they're far too classy for that.❤

I am extremely pissed with the behaviour of the paparazzi at the met gala. Like without celebrities, they won’t be able to make money, so stay in your lane. It’s not like they can model any better. The photographers stooped really low and I’m so upset that they were treated like this on there very first met gala. Overall disgusting behaviour. Honestly not all Americans like this but as a half Korean Chinese American citizen the abhorrent disgusting behavior is actually very common amongst people who genuinely treat Asians like that and I’ve grown up with the majority of Asian ethnicities I’ve heard horror stories and seen things like this scenario myself with how Asians are mocked still amongst the American public. Shoutout to the Stray Kids group members and to their leaders who led them so professionally throughout the event and honestly the paparazzi was just genuinely harassing them mocking them probably because they still assume we Asians can’t understand English well or speak it well but introspectively we actually can understand and speak it well so I bet the group members and the leaders were frustrated after seeing hearing the comments coming from so many people at the event when it was their first time there I felt so bad the members honestly I felt their inner frustration holding back being professional about it all despite the ignorant comments being made
