I was born in 65 grew up in Freemont and Milpitas but in 75 at a k-mart I seen KISS ALIVE 1 and it was on in the bay area there was a magazine named BAM I saved the one with Y&T on the cover but inside there was a advertisement for THE STONE and THE KEYSTONE in palo alto and playing there was Metallica with Dave Mustane and the last time at the KEYSTONE in palo alto was 97 and the original members of UFO that was great seeing them in a small club Micheal Schenker smoked just recently my daughters got me a cool shirt that says "I might be old but I got see all the cool bands" btw in 79 was probably the last time I got a haircut the same year I started playing guitar after a Halloween show with SAMMY HAGAR at the old San Jose civic auditorium that was my second concert that year the first was KISS at the cowpalace in SF btw the radio shows I listened to on KSJO and KOME and remember "Metal Monday's" the 80s were a great time to graduate from high school and turn 21 in 85 but it sounds like your brother got you on the right track btw I still play guitar and bought my first Gibson les paul as a retirement gift to myself anyway this was my introduction into ROCK music so KEEP ROCKIN 🎸 and have a good day

Great job on this doc. I was in L.A. and Big Bear Lake when all this was going down and we were all over it. We were always burning the pictures of the hair "metal" bands... watching the sad, preening images of posers in hairspray go up in smoke from the pages of BAM Magazine & LA Weekly. We saw shows at places like the Olympic Auditorium & Fender's Ballroom... my first true Thrash gig was Anthrax & COC where my nose got busted by the skull of a stage diver, literally within the first minute of COC's set. It was ON like Donkey Kong from that point forward bros & mofos. The Euro-Thrash stuff was huge in our circle for sure, plus my fave to this day: F**king VOIVOD. (first saw them at Fender's on the Killing Technology "Tournado" -- a LEGENDARY show) We were also at Metallica's "secret" debut show with Jason Newsted after the tragic loss of Cliff. (we had just seen them months before with Cliff, opening for Ozzy before they left for Europe) The secret show was at the Country Club in Reseda, (coincidentally the same venue where I attended the same f**king AWESOME Michael Schenker Group show as Brian Slagel mentioned at 11:44 a few years earlier) and Jaymz & the boys were ON FUCKING FIRE that night. There was a palpable energy in the air of that place that I'll never forget. It was all of us collectively coping with this overwhelmingly tragic loss and yet staying strong, looking forward & carrying on. 🤘 (>

Can see why Dave always been bitter. That whole scene back then loved Metallica and they got a great push cause of the music with Dave in the band. So recording kill em All either way Kirk never mattered. It was heard on the demo and at shows what ended up being kill em All. So the fans loved Metallica for what they were with Dave. They got known and introduced to the right people when Dave was there with Dave’s music. Kirk played on kill em All but it wasn’t his music. Even Kirk watched Metallica play and thought they were great with Dave in the band. James at first didn’t even play guitar at the shows. Point being that whole buzz was with Dave before Cliff and with Cliff but without Kirk. People love to say Dave did nothing for Metallica and who they are today. Of course he did. This is the scene that put Metallica on the map from The Bay Area to New York. Every band thought Metallica with Dave was great. Die hard fans followed Metallica cause what they heard before Kirk. They maintained fans after the fact. But without Dave back then it would have all just been a dream of Lars. That’s all. Honestly not sure why he wasn’t part of the induction at the rock and roll hall of fame for Metallica. He was a key part. No matter how much James and Lars wants to downplay his role. And trust me they have been since he’s been kicked out

LoL! Dave Mustaine the biggest narcissist, whiner in the world! Has sold millions of albums and made $millions but still whines because the Black album has sold more than the whole MegaDave catalog! Metallica has had 3 people leave, Dave getting booted, Cliff died and Jason chose to leave. There have been probably 25 people or so in MegaDave! He's the problem! Had he stayed in Metallica there would be no Master of Puppets!
