Modern cameras these days are really helpful when you need more recording time on your camera, when they will always only provide you with a single battery 🔋Charge while using it to lengthen usage time, and buy another if you really need longer periods of use! Don’t bother with the stress of dummy batteries!

If I plug my camera into a portable charger will it stay recording as long ass the portable charging isn’t dead?

@NitpickersAnonymous 7 ай бұрын
Good question. Yes and no. It depends on what kind of output the portable charger is capable of and what the charging port on the camera can take in. Some chargers won’t be able to supply enough power consistently and some cameras won’t ’allow’ or take as much power in to allow it to operate like a wall outlet and/or battery. I ran into this issue with my Panasonic G95. My battery would charge the camera while it was off, but wouldn’t run enough power to the camera while it was on to act as a dummy

What resolution are you recording with? Are you using software? Is the camera itself recording?

Just don’t get one. There’s no real need to get one, that’s the point :)

Well if you insist on having one, the only thing I could recommend is to look up something for your actual camera that supports it, that is genuine. I’d still say avoid third party ones

this is a dummy take.. Just get the dummy battery so you wont need to burn out your actual battery to buy a new one later.. Dummy batteries are cheap compared to your actual OEM battery.
@NitpickersAnonymous
@NitpickersAnonymous 6 ай бұрын
You COULD do that, but then you could also just burn out your entire camera with the aftermarket dummy pack or battery. When you’ve got thousands on the line, why would you risk it when an OEM spare battery is much less cost and risk?
@NitpickersAnonymous
@NitpickersAnonymous 6 ай бұрын
Also, you won’t burn out your battery…not easily anyway. The companies that offer cameras for streaming (and/or extended use with power connected) have obviously tested their own equipment, hence the fact that they offer that as a feature on the camera. That generally means it works for all purposes intended by OEM.

@@NitpickersAnonymous If your stream for hours your camera will generate more heat over USB power than it will with a good dummy battery. Telling people that its better to use USB over dummy batteries is not the best idea. Sure it works, but its not everyones best solution since heat kills battery cells over time.
@NitpickersAnonymous
@NitpickersAnonymous 6 ай бұрын
@@legenderry25 true, heat does kill battery cells. But your cameras have a heat threshold for a reason. If you really want to bypass the battery degradation, you can sometimes get OEM dummies. I know Sony has one available. Their dummy goes at the price of about 4 new OEM batteries. But it’s also safer than aftermarket. The main point here though is, don’t use aftermarket batteries, nor dummies
@NitpickersAnonymous

@@legenderry25 the other point is, you don’t need to risk getting a dummy or aftermarket battery to start streaming
