Nah, no crap deserved here. You're absolutely right. This game gave the Tekken characters a lot more flair and character. Especially things like their Super attacks; they're so much more flashy and they actually say more during their attacks, unlike in Tekken, where they just grunt or maybe say one generic line if you're lucky. I loved the Street Fighter-styled win quotes they all had for each characters, too. The trash talk was great, like Kazuya calling Hugo a "fatass" (all of Kaz's win quotes were great tbh), Jin basically telling everyone to piss off and leave him alone, everybody respecting how badass Heihachi is (especially around the Tekken 6 period, where he was more out of focus and a comedic character) etc. Even the continuity nods were great (and Tekken is sadly starved of that when it comes to the non-Mishimas). Kazuya references his battle against Paul back in Tekken 1 where they drew (he says Paul hasn't evolved at all since their fight), Jin gets pissed at Ogre for Jun's disappearance, it was all there. You even got characters like Marduk actually complimenting their opponents and being pretty chill about the fight. One thing games like Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Blazblue and (recently) Soulcalibur always did well with was the special win quotes and character interactions. Tekken unfortunately lacks a lot of that aside from a handful of characters. After Tekken 5, it feels like the side characters just got heavily shafted and they don't even matter anymore. I always value the side characters in games like these because while you have the main conflict (like the Mishima feud) going on, the rest of them outside of it have their own problems and feuds going on simultaneously. I love seeing how the side characters' stories eventually intertwine with each other and link into the main one. SF x Tekken ironically did this better than Tekken itself.

It always just looked like they ported tekken characters into street fighter 4 to me.

I know, right? I always thought the art style looked great in motion. Only in screenshots the game looks bad, but in motion it actually looks great.

Eh, to each their own. Game always looked hideous to be personally. Then again, I never liked the way SFIV looked either, and SFXT is pretty much just that but with a more garish colour pallet.

Did Ogre have an appearance post TEKKEN 3 (and Tag 1 I think)?

It was still just SF4 featuring Tekken characters. Even the character models from SF looked the same as they did in SF4. It may as well have been another SF4 expansion.

It's not in development yet. It's just on hiatus. A crossover game no longer fits the business model that fighting games currently have.

Thank you. I've been trying to tell people that. They want to work on TxSF, they just have to finish development on it. They can make any game they want so "business practices" aren't gonna hold them back or get the game cancelled.

Spot on! The on-disc DLC was such a huge fiasco for the gaming community as a whole. I was also butthurt at the PS3 version having exclusive characters over the 360 version, even though the 360 version of SFIV ran better and was used in official tourneys. Haha Can someone explain the Windows Live point for me?

I’d have to disagree with the last part at least, I only see that being relevant to evo stuff and I hardly care about that.

The game had 40 characters on launch, already having more than average amount of content to justify it's price. The dlc was also 12 characters for 20 bucks, which is also pretty cheap compared to average character pass prices. Putting some gems on dlc was stupid but the idea behind the mechanic was good. It also appeared in Fighting EX Layer where people were a lot more receptive to it due to the game not being surrounded in controversy. Being able to do "mini-quests" during a match to unlock additional powers is a good way to add extra options in an FG and it's something I wish more FGs would revisit.

Also, while it may not have been the biggest reason, Bad Boxart Mega Man soured a number of people on the game after Mega Man Legends 3 was cancelled, Mega Man Universe was cancelled, and no Mega Man (as in Rock or X) was put in MvC3.

If they made a (current) version, which is something I've been waiting for for 10 years, I would be ultra mega ripped

The character DLC fiasco definitely was what killed the game in the eyes of the mainstream, which is a shame because it was a completely stupid attack on the game. SFxT was generous with launch content already with 40 chars, and the dlc characters were cheap too, 12 chars for 20 bucks. It handled content much better than modern FGs do, yet people are still talking about this game as the worst example for character dlc, just because the devs naively put dlc files on the disc (in the last years when discs still store game files), giving people a mental gymnastic to justify not wanting to pay for additional content.

@Ares 0160 I have heard this all before😂. That’s like saying with every new game you have to remove a character because people don’t like them. You can REVAMP the character to fit in.

@Ares 0160 that’s the thing, you’re trying to remove the problem without fully investing in the problem. “Removing 2d jumps, fireballs, and ex meters?” This…I’m saying maybe there is a way they can make these things work without being overwhelmingly cheap. You don’t remove what’s important to character you find a way to make it work. So maybe there is a way to fully integrate 2d into 3d seeing how 2d exist in 3rd dimension, not fully remove it.
