Street Portraits Sigma 56mm 1.4 (Ep12)

This portrait shoot was entirely unplanned. It had just thrown it down with rain but I was itching to get out and take some photos, so me and Tia headed into Southend - more specifically The Victoria Shopping Plaza car park.
I thought we’d be able to get some cool shots on one of the levels, but as it turned out, the rain stopped so we headed to the exposed roof of the car park.
As usual I was trying to capture some cool, gritty urban portraits using the environment around us and I’m really happy with how most of the images came out.
There were a few shots where the 30mm would have been better in capturing more of the background - I’ll take it along next time.
I especially like the shots edited with the Black n Orange Lightroom Preset.

People often complain they have nowhere suitable to shoot photos because they don't "live anywhere nice" - just shows that a bit of a grimy car park surrounded by high rise flats can still look amazing!

These videos are so good, I learn so much and I think your compositions are so much better than some KZfaq photographers with millions of subscribers. I use this 56mm lens on the LUMIX G9 and it’s brilliant but I feel like the focus is so hit and miss, the Sony looks so fast

Thanks so much for the feedback Sarah 🙏🏻. I don’t have any experience with that particular camera but my god yes, the AF on the Sony cameras is super fast and super accurate. It’s reassuring to know anything you point the camera at will be in focus 99% of the time

Found that my 56mm has quite a lot of distortion if it’s not corrected in post, does your copy also have that? Looks for me like that cause’ the walls on the shot at 4:23 look bent as f*ck. that’s the same I noticed with my 56mm

Hey Joseph, it was all by hand but in 100fps - when you slow it down it helps smooth everything out 👍🏻
