Used Vehicle Market is CRASHING! Selling my Ford Raptor before it's TOO LATE!

The car market is crashing in 2024. That's no shocker to anyone now... So I decided to sell off my 2023 Ford F150 Raptor before things got really bad. The new and used vehicle market will be in rough shape come April/May. The retail market will catchup with the wholesale market by then. Cars and trucks just aren't selling. Not even through auction right now... The car market is trending downward, and FAST. We're seeing dealerships go out of business left and right, first Vroom, then Northwest Motorsports, Carvana is next... maybe Carmax after that?
I ended up selling the Ford Raptor for a good price... as good as I'd find right now anyway. What do you think? Do you think I made out okay on this deal? What beater truck/suv should I buy until we buy our house? Thanks for watching as always.

The people who sell vehicles because of it losing value are the ones who cant afford it in the first place. as much as I disagree with Americans buying and selling expensive vehicles just to keep up with the neighbors, He is not wrong. All indicators point to the luxury pickup market taking a nose dive. I expect things like this to be worth 1/2 of what you paid for them a few years before. The craze is over, interest rates are high, and people simply cant afford them without financing them. Old money does not buy ford pickups thinking they are "luxury" and the new money is drying up.

The mind boggling part for me is buying a expensive truck and yet house not being paid off yet😏 . I don’t know might be just me and not a typical American lifestyle..we replace our old SUV with a new luxury one after we owned it for 18yrs after we laid off the house..though I have a starter sports car for 9yrs now. I don’t know dealership getting greedy because people are buying more than they can swallow. We are fuck here in US but for sure I’m not going down with the fools.

I know diff area varies prices but drowning your self to debt is a financial mistake to me or maybe move to a kess expensive area to meet up your needs if possible.Cars are depreciating asset and buying one can make you buried alive. Its all decision making financially and most americans don’t have that literacy in money.

Dude bought a new vehicle, then immediately sold it because he was worried of depreciation. Why did you buy it new in the first place? Every single new vehicle depreciates. Some faster than others. If you were truly worried about the market crashing, you wouldn't have bought this in the first place

I work part time in automotive in California. You are correct as yoir equity have fallen even more each time the calendar page changes. Also the 2024s will drop in market value. Wholesale market has been dropping steadily here since August. But smart move now.

I’ll disagree with that. Yes most normal cars and trucks depreciate, but raptors absolutely do not. 2013 and 2104 raptors are still selling at 35-40k some more than that. If this was a ford xlt then I would get it, but raptors don’t depreciate like the “normal” truck.

Car Dealer in College Town in Northeast: Congrats on sale. Last comment I made on your video I said my inventory had lost 20% of its value on 2/3 of the cars, mostly Toyotas and Hondas. In 2008 and 2009, with people losing jobs and credit tightening, people started to sell off their "toys." It got difficult because EVERYONE was trying to do the same thing, which is smart to do it now. This would be true without the dream house scenario in play. You can always buy another Raptor down the road. I drive a 2006 Toyota Highlander with 174,000 miles that I bought for $6,000 three years ago that I just put new tires, brakes and rotors all around, so I plan to keep it awhile. Houses are more important, you can always get a Toyota beater as a second car. This was a smart play, you essentially broke even on the Raptor. Watch the movie "The Big Short " - it will bring clarity to your decision. 😊

Haha I really you commenting man, thank you. Normally I don’t get “attached” to vehicles but this sale actually put me in a little bit of a funk. I now feel a bit better, especially knowing how much I got. But this was the perfect truck in my many ways to me. You’re right though, I can always get another down the road! Hopefully it’ll all be worth it if our house goes under contract and we’re able to swoop up the other. We’ll see! They’re just toys at the end of the day. =]

Glad you feel better. I know there is emotion involved. I'd love to have a shiny truck myself, but it would be irresponsible to get one now with uncertain times ahead. My Highlander is paid off and supposedly can go 300,000 miles with maintenance. (I had a '97 Ranger once, tough little truck. You know yourself that trucks aren't selling, based on your CarMax walk - and - talks. Good luck selling and buying your dream house. You will have to do a video as to WHY it is your dream home.

Oh man, I think I saw this coming and it is such a smart move. I also knew that a day of reckoning would eventually come and it’s right around the corner imo. A little over 2 years ago I was making payments on all 3 of our vehicles, an ‘18 Tundra SR5, ‘21 Miata RF Club and a ‘22 CX-5 Signature. One by one I paid all 3 off over that time, making the final payment last month on the wife’s CX-5, realizing the automobile market, Covid induced craziness was fleeting and would eventually crash and burn. We love our stable of cars and love being completely debt free (no mortgage either!) Not surprisingly that brings more joy than any of the 77 vehicles I have purchased in my lifetime. Good luck with selling your house (the housing market is still great!) and hopefully can you and Mrs. Untamed can land your “dream house”! I really enjoy your channel whether you own 5 vehicles or just one!

not sure the law in Colorado but most states require dealer to refund "unused" portion of the warranties you bought when you bought it. read your contract and call them to request a refund.

I prefer the Tundra but the Raptor is certainly the “better” truck in nearly every way. The Tundra just feels more raw and visceral… like a real truck and I like that. Most people will prefer the Raptor.

I’ve owned 2 Gen3’s My 21 I owned for almost 2 years and drove it 15k miles. Still sold it for 2500 over the MSRP. I then purchased a 23 in September of 2023 for 8k under. I just sold that one for 1k under MSRP which wasn’t bad considering I got it 8k under. Sold to buy a 2024 Raptor which I should get in 1 month. Purchased a 2024 Lexus ES300h for 8k under to move around while the 24 gets in. I love Raptors and the resale value

I’ve bought and sold a lot of cars just like you and believe it or not I often said to myself what are you doing, enjoy what you have and stop doing these crazy things and I’m a single guy . I now keep cars way longer, and God Bless your wife because most of them would go absolutely crazy if most men did what we have done lol. Cars and truck cost too much. Most people cannot afford to pay that much for a car or truck. And as a result the prices will need to come down for cars and trucks to sell. Look at all the unsold cars and truck stacking up on dealers lots. Thank you Ben

Good luck on selling your house. Dont forget to cancel your interior and exterior packages along with GAP insurance ect since you sold it so soon. You should be able to recover most of that stuff.

I wish they would build trucks like they did in the 90's. More simple, easier to work on, more interchangeable parts between different truck models/trim levels, fewer electronics and thicker wiring that won't go bad in 5 years.

My vote is for a legacy Tundra TRD Pro for a good deal! 40k! If anyone can find it you can lol Then get the matching 4 runner again! Always loved those combos on your channel and so did the rest of us. Trick them out with accessories, you could call it you budget build, let’s face it…. There’s few people that know TRD PRO accessories as well as you. The days of the 40k low mileage vehicles are disappearing 😢

Rates are falling due to inventory/ rates. Raptors hold great but due to 800+ credit scores getting a 7.9+. Doesn’t help people are flipping these and flooding market. Guaranteed value will come back up a smidge this summer/ when used auto rates get below 5-6% again.

Hey Untamed, KZfaq here. Those protection plans you had to purchase may be prorated/refundable for the unused portion minus any cancellation fees. You might be able to get most of your money back if you contact the dealer and provide proof that you sold the Raptor.

That’s why I unloaded a 2022 wrangler rubicon xtreme recon 392 and my 2021 C8 convertible in September and October. bc toys especially toys are going to tank in value!!! Fun times are over!! People are not buying toys!! Nevertheless I did pick up a NEW 2024 C8 coupe z51 for msrp!!!! @@UntamedMotors Keeping mine for years.. just had big rains here in LA today and it was glorious sending it through all the huge puddles while Tesla drivers freaking over flooded streets. I can’t imagine what else I’d want to drive. Wife has a Porsche so I can drive that if I want my sports car experience. Truck is so good for boys & sports, dogs, road trips, winter in mountains. I’d consider a LC in a few years but after having 13” of clearance I can’t imagine 9.

@@UntamedMotors ..I have a $500 deposit on one. Scheduled to arrive 3/17-3/22. I was hoping to beat them down to around 54k but unlikely. I’ll likely buy it for the 56k. Last chance to get one. I can always get an F-150 like I’m driving now, can’t say that for the 5th Gen pro, especially in underground.
