Will the epoxy stick to the plastic? Even with the abrading, perhaps there's a stronger hatch you could use?

Ah its not epoxy, it's a adhesive sealant.

My first thought, but apparently epoxy will adhere to abraded ABS plastic, which is likely what these are made of…
