In elementary school, I was always a little jealous that all the other girls had earrings, and I didn’t. I was mad at my mom for not getting my ears pierced as a baby like everyone else. Finally, I got them when I was 10 or 11, but I found out that the reason why I never got them when I was really young was because my mom wanted to wait until I was old enough to decide if I wanted them for myself. When I think about it now, I’m glad she waited for me to choose for myself instead of choosing for me when I was a baby. Edit: Thanks for the likes!

I remember getting my ears pierced and my grandma took me but they said my mom need to be there but my grandma wasn’t about to drive another 30 minutes to get her so she just flat out said “her mom isn’t with her. I am her legal guardian.” And I almost busted out laughing I love my grandma so much 😂

Strict parents teach kids to lie and do stuff behind their backs. How about instead of worrying about the little stuff in life, parents should just worry about their kids mental and physical health? I personally would allow my kid to use clip on earrings (at ages younger than 13 if they REALLY want piercings.) If they take care of those and are responsible I’ll get them piercings just as long as they’re old enough to take care of them by themselves. Obviously one set of piercings at a time so they can heal properly. They will have the responsibility to clean their piercings and rotate them and I won’t remind them. If they get an infection, I’ll use it was a learning opportunity of self care and routine. This is actually how I convinced my parents to get my piercings. I got them when I was 14 and love them, never had an infection. (My dad and step mom were iffy on me getting piercings because when I was a baby my bio mom got them done like 10 times and didn’t take care of them. I got severe ear affections and scarring to the point my pediatrician had to tell her to STOP getting them done and threatened to call CPS. They didn’t want me to stop taking care of them and cause more scarring//

I FINALLLYYY got my first piercings at almost 17 years old. My moms rule was no piercings till you turn 13, and I play softball a lot so I didnt really want to get them due to me having to cover them up every single time i played. This summer though im finally taking a break and i got my lobes done and a helix on each side. So happy, for anyone who wants to get one but not sure or scared. DOOO ITTT it doesn’t hurt at all, make sure you eat before though if youre sensitive
