There is a Tool to Switch the catenary on and of, you don’t need to rebuild it always. And you don’t need to put signals directly behind the stations, they have invisible ones build in.

Watching you play this game is an interesting tug of war with the pros and cons of Skylines. I feel pretty spoiled by the incredible flexibility of things you can achieve in CSL with the mods available, now. But there's a few things that just take a ridiculous amount of work even with mods, and it looks like this game does a few of them right. Rail management in general looks so much less finicky, between the smooth junctions and nice narrow elevated sections. I guess that's not surprising since so much of the game is about rail, but it's quality of life stuff I've always wanted in CSL. The texture painting is straight up amazing. It's difficult to articulate how much easier it would be to make good looking maps in CSL if you could just paint stuff instead of trying to cheat with resources and decals. If a Move It doppleganger comes out of this game, that'd be a huge incentive for me. But I hope the workshop develops some variety for the town architecture as well. The current buildings look ... fine, but they're kind of bland and don't have much sense of location. Anyway, I'm glad you went with the arid American frontier look for this series. Spices it up a little :) And that river is going to look so much better by the time you're done working on it, haha.

Holy signal Batman. Unless you're one day imagining seeing a train between every signal segment, there is no need to have that many. Keeps the drivers on their toes I guess.

you can also make your rail junctions shorter by building the track over to the last track and when you click on the part the in between tracks meet you can double cross them

If you using brush to paint stone there is an option to prevent collision so you can put the stone right in the pillar..

Glad to see you start a TPF2 series, looking forward to see more episodes in the future. I have a tip regarding rail and road placement, if you're going to have a railroad crossing lay the track first. If you try to drag a rail line through the road it will try to awkwardly cross the road and stay level. (Like what happened around 2:20 into the episode)

5:00 You can build the main part first with PgUp across the river, that way it will be horizontal and flat, and then connect the two ends each

11:08 to have a flat bridge you need a flat part after your ramp and use the arrow it will be more easy

@klotz__ 4 жыл бұрын
There is a mod to build bridges without pillars. You can then build your own pillars with another asset mod for several different walls. I don't know the names for both of them but they're on steam. Also you can change the game config file with notepad so that generated roads won't be curved but that would need a restart of the map.
@strictoaster
@strictoaster 4 жыл бұрын
Oh interesting that the road curving can be configured. I prefer not to hard code it though, I'd love it if it was a keyboard shortcut or UI toggle.

1) If you turn the contour lines on, you can "see" under water. From that you can level your ground and even trace rail/road a bit more easily. 2) Being a fan and player of CSL and TF2 and a HUGE fan of yours, I'm very interested to see how you deal with some of the big restrictions in the this game. Let the frustrations begin.

@Strictoaster. Are you aware that you can start building tracks at a particular height or depth with the "," and "." keys? They also can be used in combination with the "Shift" key for fine tuning. This way you can build perfect flat bridges or tunnels, and afterwards the slopes. A little warning... Take care that the spot where you start build your bridge be also perfect flat with the terrain tool else your bridge can have a little slope at the beginning...
@mrcjstudio
@mrcjstudio 4 жыл бұрын
You could have gone higher with your tunnel at the interchange. if you notice while doing the tunnel, at the end of your cursor there is an arrow pointing at a 45 degree angle. If you clicked on that, it would have raised the level of the track, allowing you to carry the tunnel further.

I havent played Transport Fever 2 myself yet. But if they haven't changed the AI too much, you should probably make sure to not have non-oneway-signals one the same track face each other. Trains get stuck that way a ton. At least they used to in the older games.
@Hoehlenmaensch
@Hoehlenmaensch 4 жыл бұрын
Also may i suggest to destroy the road bridge completely and integrate a road onto the rail-bridge, like a third track but as road (which should be possible). Might be a long way around for the trucks, but makes more sense, when you think about wanting not to have too many seperate bridges so close to each other.

When you are doing switches put the parallel track in first then run the switch from the main track to the parallel instead of the way you are doing it. I get the full 75mph that way.

Hey stric! Cool stuff you play TF2 now. There are many things you dont know yet but you will get the hang of it. I think this game is perfect for you! Its the perfect simbiosis of CS and OpenTTD. Small tipp for building tracks/roads. When you drag them and you want to have them perfectly flat you can left click this little arrow (in the box right next to the accept button). it will toggle between flat and hill mode. I know this vid is in german but have a short watch and look at how crazy you can build in TF2: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h7R-bNxhrZzSZX0.html Wish you the best
