The 6th book is very slow paced. I don't know how well it could be adapted to screen because a lot of the "progression of the story" is in the game... I also found the multiple conversations in game quite confusing. I agree that Troubled Blood is the best book.

I reckon try the first book, it’s not too long, and now you can picture the actors in the roles I think you’ll really enjoy it, gives so much more depth to the situations

@@kordei-7839 I have given this some more thought. The BBC ignored a written White Man Bad character and made him a decent hard working normal person for 3 seasons. OK, we have both stopped laughing. Strike new this man in the Army (and you get to know people very well) he was always this way in an increasingly woke captured Army. He continued to be an awful man in the books and only in book 3 do they decide to get rid of him. That makes no sense. So what changed? The environment? This book was released in 2020. If in the book, JK Rowling decided to polish her Feminist man hating credentials with a dramatic change of character, this is possible but very poor writing. BBC decided to do it and JK Rowling didn't object or not enough. I think that is more probable.

Who are you talking about? The only ex army friend Strike hired is Sam Barclay who is a regular character. He has been in the series from season three Career of Evil and is not remotely creepy.

He resented the fact that she left him and wanted to punish her for it. He's a well paid sccountant she's a private detective on minimum wage when married to him. They were only married a year and had no childre so the divorce should have be easy if he wasn't so bitter.
