That is an air raid siren. When I lived in New Jersey a lot of the small towns would use them when the fire department had to get out on the road. After World War II they had all these air raids sirens left over and they didn't know what to do with them so they gave them to the fire departments. And they would use them to sign everything from a disaster to they are fixing to roll on a fire. And that way it would let people know to get off the roadways for a minute so they could get through and get to the fire as quickly as possible. Actually pretty damn good idea and my town still uses them!

Thats insane. In 2011 Google Maps this place was totally up and running. Lawn chairs, tables and inflatable pools outside. The whole atmosphere is just on the extremes of the spectrum. That "hoarder" family? An emotionally troubled daughter thinking about death, and a bro living in his parents basement with the cupboard full of beer and a table covered in tobacco. Insert shady multi-billion dollar corporation using stealth developmental tactics. 1 certified valued employee of said company to infiltrate relationships, and then just sweep the rug out from under everyone. Literally the storyline to a show or video game.

It was under my understanding that some families that rented a property were evicted and during an eviction process (which once they come to evict you you have like 10 minute to get your stuff out or leave it) hence why you see a ton of items in the one house while others sold properties that the homeowner lived in and had ample time to leave.

No kidding! I just found your channel recently and quickly became interested in the content. Just this morning I wondered how many similar buyout situations have happened near me in Troy/Albany NY and then this video shows up, perfect timing I’d never heard about this. How recently this was filmed? Also the siren you heard is used by volunteer fire departments to alert members of an incoming call, pretty common for non-paid fire services. And you’re correct the air raid sirens used are the same type used for tornados or even old repurposed missile/nuclear warning sirens during war times

Sad to see.. The home my grandfather bought from the railroad co back in 1938, where my Father grew up and my Uncle wound up owning went through this same experience.. That house still stands with new owners since my uncle passed, and then my aunt a couple years later. It's at the end of a dead end st. The city had built a huge soccer field behind it along the main river, where a massive building used to stand which was where train engines used to be serviced.. Some years ago the entire street was bought out by Walgreens.. every owner sold on the street but my Uncle.. so they basically became tenants, which means they did sell the property/house to Walgreens but were able to remain as tenants until they passed. And since the actual house didn't interfere with the Walgreens being built a deal was struck.. Walgreens maintained their property and any serious problems. It was sad to see the entire, close neighborhood torn down around my uncle's home and see the Walgreens and its parking lot built there.. It was very surreal.. the entire house was surrounded by businesses and parking lots over the years and a huge soccer field right next to it. Im amazed the house still stands and there are new people living in it, as Walgreens sold it as a private home with its tiny little back yard which is prone to flooding as all the land around it has been built up so high, and all the surface rains drain into a small basin which was built about 50 ft from the property, and there is a major river only 300 ft away. In the basement of the home is a pump which runs 24/7 which was installed when the home was raised and a new foundation built to set it on. If that pump ever burns out and no one is home.. that basement will fill up to the rafters within an hour easily. It's bizarre anyone would want to live there to me.

Those funny grasses that explode, I call them boing boings. It's how they spread their seeds. Kinda cool that plants can have potential energy stored like that. You only heard a local fire department roof alarm in the beginning. I'm sure you knew that anyway. It's a traditional way of summoning volunteer firefighters to the firehouse for an emergency. Totally not necessary anymore and just noise pollution I'm my opinion. Being a volunteer for 25 years now. The smartphone gives you a map, detailed information, and status of a call. Why do we have to listen to that siren? NOSTALGIA!
