The mystical archive is such a good move by wotc. Great looking reprints often of cards that desperately need it that are going to be printed a lot, like, a lot a lot. Very cool

Favorite combo in magic.... that's really tough. I've always liked Time Sieve + Thopter Assembly. But I think Teferi's Protection + Lethal Vapors + Grand Abolisher might be my favorite. No one expects to lose from their opponent skipping their own turn a billion times.

This is the first time I have bought a box of collector's boosters. I absolutely LOVE the full art cards and the Mystical Archive cards, and my lady and I had a blast cracking packs. It wasn't "worth it" in terms of money probably, but the joy of us opening them was worth it.

Watching him open a pack and the full art Stone Rain was in place of a Rare/Mythic. That kills me. It's a common that has been reprinted so many times. This is why I passed on Collector's boosters for the first time since they were introduced. No way I can justify the price, and get a common card in the best slot.

4:59 they've changed every set, and its collector booster Edit: they ussually have to change the contents based on whatever that set's special treatment is for the showcase or alt art. Also, the amount of commander products released at that same time determine the amount of presence commander cards have in the packs. And of course the first couple collector sets were still a work in progress and were being tweaked each release. And tons of other things im not thinking of at this moment

Mystical Archive really is super cool. And Strixhaven itself seems really fun.

I really wish the professor did this video a week earlier. It was actually not very clear a week ago when I was deciding to get the collector box or not. It took me nearly an hour to understand what is in there and what the different treatment would look like. It's a bit late now since my LGS sold out of these but the info is still very much appreciated :)

I appreciate the levelheaded-ness Professor. I was really excited watching my friends open some of the Collector's Boosters, but I really only want the Mystic Archive cards. Hoping my LGS will sell me a set soon!

All the jabs at secret lairs in yesterday's video had me reeling. One combo that I love that I really want to pull off eventually is Vadrok+Chance for Glory+Stifle effect to generate infinite turns. It just seems so fun to crank that out. Also, thanks for telling me about Decree of Silence + Solemnity, I love it! My number 1 favorite combo ever is in my Jodah commander deck, where I use Jodah to drop Omniscience, followed by Enter the Infinite into casting basically my whole deck, and swinging in with an army of eldrazi and giant threats. I do keep 1 titan in my hand though, so if I don't win somehow, I can shuffle my library back when I discard to hand size ;)

Got one pack from walmart and got foil japanese swords to plowshares and etched foil tainted pact, among other gas!

the only good thing about these collector boosters is that the art is sick and it made me buy a memory lapse I don't even need (okay maybe that's not a good thing but I maintain that the art is VERY good)

I just recently got back into Magic (about the time Kaldheim hit the market) and with strixhaven, for the first time in my life, a friend of mine and me bought an entire booster box together and I really got to say, i love the main set as much as the archive one. Really fun new cards aswell as cool reprints of cards I remember from back then, when i even was to young to understand the game. Love your videos keep up the great work!

I absolutely love the japanese art for this set and that was the main reason I purchased the collector box. I wanted to grade and display some as I do with my Pokemon cards :)

As a yugioh player trying to get into magic, I love your videos. I've been watching them for years now and always go to them for info on supplies and new magic stuff I know nothing about. After you talked about the strixhaven precons I figured it was a good time to jump into commander and get one. I had no idea about all the japanese alt art in this collectors set (I think that's what this set is?Mtg sets are still a bit confusing to understand for me), so I'll definitely be looking into buying some to bling out my lorehold deck. I loved the video you did with Paul from Team APS, and a lot of us in the yugioh community would love to see you bring your comedic style to our dopamine fueled game. I really like the experience of it, I brought a couple packs, and did decently well, but it was about the artwork, not the money-making. I got them for £18 each.

My favorite color in Magic Is black, I play it on almost every commander that I have. The Bolas Citadel + sensei divining top + aetherflux is my favorite combo! You dont just feel great by playing any of the pieces even if you dont have the combo, but when citadel hits de Battlefield, if you dont win the game right away, you end up with a big advangate.

Bought 1 English and 1 Japanese set booster this go-around, had pretty good results of it. My favorite combo is Ghostly Flicker > Archaeomancer (etc) + Peregrine Drake for infinite mana and infinite storm/magecraft/Ral/Guttersnipe etc triggers in commander. Very flexible core combo that can be easily assembled with many duplicates that can achieve a victory through multiple outlets; or in other words, great in any Izzet+ commander deck!

My favorite combo is with Hellkite Charger and either Bear Umbra/Sword of Feast and Famine. Two card infinite combo that is balanced enough to be stopped. And when you pull it off: *chef's kiss*

My favorite combo is one you told me about! Using that white enchantment that has "0: destroy target reflection" in conjunction with the blue enchantment that has "1: change target creature type". It's just... *Mhua*! 👌🏽

Bought some Japanese packs at my LGS to hunt for alternate DT and help the store: DT was a miss, but I did get an alternate Opt, and some other goodies. Glad to help my LGS!

Yesterday we learned about Wretched Card Combos- as per requested homework- this may not be my favorite combo, but it it one I pulled off in Commander “Storm Herd and Warhorn Blast” - 20 Pegasus tokens with +2/+1 counters- nice !

Specifically card combos and products to avoid and to purchase. What has always been the biggest appeal to me is your sense of professionalism. Congrats on 600k! My favorite infinite combo is my first commander deck, Teysa Karlov -- her plus Ashnod's Alter, Pitiless Plunderer, and Reassembling skeleton. I know it's not super unique but it was the first one for me!

My favorite combo is high alert and tower defense. Turning an a bunch of walls into 8/8 and 9/9 creatures always feels so satisfying on Arena.

I can confirm after opening two of these boxes myself that the value is real for MA. I've already recouped the cost of both boxes in less than 2 days after getting them and all the extra chuff and MA cards are mine for free. Would I recommend doing this in another week or two? NOPE, because the market will have cooled by then and I'll be able to buy back any cards I'm still missing from the MA sets at a way more reasonable price. And no, I didn't pull a single Demonic Tutor, but I did get 2x Time Warps (one foil, one etched) and a Tainted Pact JP alt arts. Commander 2021 cards are ridiculously overlooked as well, because a dozen of the cards I pulled were all $10-$15 each (almost more than the highest priced Strixhaven extended art LOL). For anyone considering a box of draft or set, you're throwing your money away legitimately. The odds of just breaking even are so incredibly low, you'd almost have to pull a Demonic Tutor from every box just to be in the black. Terrible set IMO, but MA saves it.

I just gotta say: THE ART IS SO BEAUTIFUL.

I bought 4 of those total and it paid off incredibly well. These are SO much better than previous Collector boxes, and also draft boosters in any metric besides being able to draft. Yes, $250 in draft boxes wields 90 guaranteed mystical archives, but they will all be the global version and all nonfoil (foils are extra, maybe 1-2 per box) and most of these are worth pennies. The foil etched and japanese ones are the real deal, and Collector boxes give between 1.5 and 2.5 japanese archives per box. It is indeed amazing. If you have $200-250 to spend in Strixhaven but don't want the C21 decks for some reason, Collector Boosters are the best option, in my opinion.

My favorite combo in MTG is Yawgmoth's Will with Rooftop Storm in a blue/black Gisa and Geralf Commander Deck. Get as many zombies in that graveyard and play this combo to swarm the field with the undead

"To call these etched foils is extremely disingenuous." Good thing they've tried multiple times to clarify these are "foil-etched" instead of "etched-foils." The point of them is that they're normal cards with foil etching, not foils that are etched.

with the archive possibilities the value is there. a buddy of mine and his brother split the cost and pulled alt japanese teferi's protection and alt japanese demonic tutor and cover the cost with just those cards. if you're buying to play this is a terrible option unless you are someone who has to have foils in your deck. i personally buy to play so i have switched to buy set boosters if i wanna crack packs, and singles since my main format is commander.

Yeah, I definitely agree with this C, I really do like the art though, and that is definitely the redeeming quality here. But my fav combo is an old 90s one. Rebel Informer and Lin Sivvi self-tutor.

Saw in my local walmart that the new retail collector booster pack (a single pack) is in a huge full art sealed small board game sized box now. It was HUGE. It looked nice.

I usually only buy 1, maybe 2 packs of these boosters. This time I bought a full 12 and got lucky in the first 3 packs. Pack 1 was Extended Foil Lilliana, and 3rd pack was a foil, Japanese Demonic Tutor.

Shout out to TBS comics in Pensacola, my home away from home and the only place that ever gets a cent of my money when it comes to buying packs and singles.

Back in my day, walmart put the alara premium packs on clearance because nobody wanted all foil stuff....

I would never buy a collector’s booster but I do like that they exist. They greatly reduce the price of alternate border cards as well as cards like mystical archives making it easier to buy singles

I read the Wizards "Where To Find" article, and opened a Collector box of my own, and it's only after watching this video that I understand what's even in a pack. Thanks, Prof!

For all of the issues I have with it, there's something really special about Strixhaven, and a lot of "little" things that just make it feel good. I was really worried about some things, like the focus on set boosters. Then I had a BLAST opening some, fell in love with some many cards, and it's just been a joy of a set. Plus, the Mystical Archive is just SO cool. What a flavorful way of doing some reprints - something I'd love to see done more in the future. Happy/Dismayed to hear that Collector's Boosters are riding that same line.

I got the absolute craziest booster pack from a fat pack yesterday! I pulled a mythic lesson (Mascot exhibition), a rare (callous bloodmage), a foil rare archive card (inquisition of kozilek) and an uncommon archive card (divine gambit)! Pretty awesome!

I just love to open a collector booster occasionally. I know it's not a great deal, but its so cool to see my son's face when we open one together and almost everything is foil lol

I like the collector's boosters, but as a one off, and not a full box. Fun to pimp out decks with the iconic cards. I like the etched treatment as well, even if it is way different than Commander Legends

I totally forgot about the Solemnity plus Decree of Silence combo! Once you have the board locked down, just play Nine Lives and watch the table groan. Keep up the good work Professor, your advice helps shape some of my decisions on what to purchase to sell inside my store.

Was into MTG in the 90s, getting back into it to try to get my kids to play a "thinking game" that doesn't involve a touch screen. I picked up a pair of Strixhaven precon commander decks, and a Bundle Box...as well as a handful of packs of an older set...I'm thinking I may pick up some more cards to try making a commander deck or 2 from scratch, as well as a few more older precon decks, those seem to be a good way to get cards at a value... maybe the local shop can help me make my homebrew decks actually play decently as well.... After watching this, I'm so confused these days with MTG, I won't likely he playong standard as I don't want to be restricted to the last year's worth of sets... so will be playing commander and "best 60" as the local store calls it...but WHY would I buy packs of cards, from a current set, that I couldn't play the game with??? This makes no sense at all....and how do you distinguish these from the regular cards.... this all seems just WAY too convoluted.... I will definitely be sticking to only playing with people that want to "play" , you know, make it fun to collect these cards and play games with them... I AM looking forward to trying a booster draft someday...

My fave combo from last video was the clone legion warstorm surge combo and I definitely would pick the 3x draft booster boxes while it would be nice to crack maybe a foil japanese set the etched cards are enough for me to be happy cause the art on them is already amazing enough and foil is extra!

Professor, This video actually made me excited ... To buy singles!!! With all of the cool treatments collectors can have, there's gonna be TONS of regular quality versions of cards in the marketplace and at my local Gamestore!

I haven't played MTG since I was knee high to a small giraffe - I think you guys know it as "Alpha" edition. I just fondly remember it as a card game I used to collect and play. I can't even remember what I did with my collection, but it had a lot of very [now] valuable cards (full set of moxes, split lands etc.)! Anyway... I don't play, I don't collect, and I have no interest in taking it back up - but for some reason I just really like watching your videos about the different products, their value etc. Thanks, keep 'em coming :)
