Then some Ritalin kid drafts a pile and goes 7-0 and posts on Reddit for internet cool points.

It is so contextual once you are drafting the deck. Part of the difficulty is that when you are drafting any Red deck you are probably picking Heated Debate over most of the Gold cards, and similarly a Blue deck is often taking Frost Trickster. It becomes difficult to start ranking the colorless cards against the Gold cards and going into gradations and which deck wants which card. I did consider doing Top 3 Commons for each College instead of for each Color, but I ended up deciding to stick with Color and just do an expanded archetype section (and I made sure to cover the archetypes first so the Commons would have some context). I just got to play with it today and I agree that it is fantastic! I think there are cases where you find a different college that is so open that it is worth abandoning it, but I would go to great lengths to splash it if possible even then.

I definitely factored in what I think the gameplan for each College would be when I rated the cards. Expel is similar to Swift Response from Core Set 2021 (it costs 1 more but it exiles) and Swift Response was not great in aggressive decks. Usually the controlling White decks are UW or WB, but since WB is aggro this time around and WR looks like it might have some aggressive versions too, it just seemed like Expel was at home in fewer decks.

I don't really consider something a, "Combat Trick," if it doesn't buff stats. Make your mark could definitely count there, but oh well. I don't consider a tuck spell to be the same as a bounce spell. I wrote this in response to another commentor, but I'll paste it here, "I consider Bury in Books to be slightly different. The key factor is that Bury in Books puts the card into your opponent's deck, so it is never card disadvantage, whereas a typical bounce spell like Unsummon or Disperse would return the card to the opponent's hand. One of the reasons bounce is so effective against tokens is because it turns the cheap (1 or 2 mana) tempo plays into actual removal spells. Since Bury in Books is already trading 1 for 1 (which is reflected in its increased mana value), I do not think it is the same." I actually spend a lot of time making these, like, a LOT. I probably spent 5 times as long making this as I would spend on a typical Draft video.

It is funny that you mention that combo because it was initially in the combos section but I ended up just putting it on one of the Quandrix archetype slides.

I consider Bury in Books to be a tuck spell rather than a Bounce spell because Bounce spells typically involve card disadvantage. That's my perspective at least Maik.

I don't really talk about Rares or Mythics in my Draft Guides because they come up less frequently. Mystical Archives are in a similar space in that there is one in each pack, so I also did not want to make things too confusing by going in depth about them. I could have mentioned them under mechanics, but I ultimately decided not to.

@@NicolaiBolas for the record any given uncommon mystical archive card has as much chance of being in a pack as any regular uncommon. For my money none of them really push you in a different direction than what youd expect from the normal set though.

They actually just announced that they aren't doing an Early Access Event, so I'll be jamming Drafts on Thursday like everyone else.

"Enchantment removal" was referring to removal spells that are enchantments, like Pacifism or Capture Sphere. It is a bit strange that they use the same phrase Sergey, so I see where the confusion comes from.

Yeah, that was really confusing to me, too. I would call that "enchantment-based-removal" instead.

You could target your own creature twice if you wanted to in many cases. I just wanted to let people know that it is an option if you need to. For example, if they block your Golem with a 1/3, you put one copy of Make Your Mark on the Golem and one on their creature so you still kill their guy but also get a token. It's good knowledge to have because it can come up.

A tuck spell is a bit different from a bounce spells. Bounce spells are inherent card disadvantage while a tuck spell is always trading one for one.

Going 3 colors almost always leads to more inconsistency than it is worth (in sets that are not designed for it like Khans of Tarkir). I do think that there is going to be a decent amount of splashing among certain color combinations though.

I meant enchantment removal spells like Pacifism or Bound in Gold, not removal spells for enchantments.

Multicolored cards are gold cards..

I knew there would be some confusion with what I meant by this, but I was referring to enchantment removal spells in the vein of Bound in Gold or Pacifism. Spells you put on your opponent's creatures to remove them, not cards that remove enchantments. It is just one of those strange phrases that means two different things in Magic.
