We live in the North of England and seen it last night, it was beautiful, (dancing rainbows in the night sky) best we have seen for years! There has never been a problem with them, we see this normally 2 times a year, in the spring, and autumn, and is called the Arora Borials!

Yesterday.mornimg he San Luis Valley lost power yesterday due to a transmission line failure on top of Poncha Pass that feeds the valley. A valley wide failure has not happened before according to the Emergency Management office. Could a CME have caused this?

So far, this storm is NOT comparable to the infamous "Carrington Event" of 1859.

Someone is good! X80 was Carrington. These are x1-7 so far. However our magnetic shield of Earth is probably only about 65% of what it once was. So these consecutive blasts will be a bit of a test! Be safe everyone. Follow suspicious observers on you tube and do all playlist and homework!!

I'm more curious about learning through these events, the main purpose of SOHO. We'll gather more knowledge on the seismic events to come. The strength in the wind has proven itself but these rays go straight to our core! I am fascinated because soon we will be able to give earlier warnings of earthquakes and tsunamis. Weather forecasters aren't able to predict the weather with upticks in solar activity. It creates disturbances and intensifies current ones. But one thing we are already able to predict, is when a CME is earth directed or a coronal hole opens, earth facing, on the sun's surface, it does indeed affect our cardiac system, thus an increase in heart related issues, as well as mental stability. We get a heads up to prepare for such disorders.
