Issue I have with Glenn he doesn't seem to know how to promote the show because it was largely unknown. But watching the show was awesome. It was a massive change for strongman, BUT one thing I like about Glenn is that he helps with the grassroots scene of the sport, giving them a path to follow so they can plan their route until they get to GL

I agree completely with your analysis. I’d love to see more strength content on tv. I love the stuff on KZfaq, but it doesn’t completely replace the need for tv coverage. I think it was a really great professional attempt at live coverage. There was room for improvement, but still highly enjoyable. It might have benefited from a bit of Loz and Liz commentary! 🤓

As you say it's a really big deal! We all want this. Glen runs a really good show. I saw the first day on TV and the 2nd day live at the show. Obviously there's a restriction on what events you coul have having to run to time. Love or hate the bar bend! You've already mentioned the truck pull reset issue. But all being said, hats off to Glen, he's shown Giants 'Live' it can be done! As a side note, Glen loves to make athletes run doesn't he? He'd have hated that in his day! 😂

Everything must be judged. Immediately. And every individual preference must be met or individuals will go mental. Tough gig to get right 😂 On the broadcast, did channel 5 do any extra promotion? Or was it standard channel promotion? (Brief promotions in-between their other shows, yknow, standard “soon on 5” stuff) I wonder to what extent this was a feeler, if at all.

What is a TV...? In all seriousness and with all due to respect to the people involved that wanted to pull this off, it's just not good enough for the sport overall. It's 15 years too late. Nobody goes out of their way to sit down to watch irregularly scheduled programming on a TV anymore. Especially not the generation that would be willing to pay for athlete's merch, go to live events, buy sponsors' gear/supplements etc and pump money back into the sport. Pensioners with nothing to do on a weekday that were randomly flicking through the TV might have watched for a few minutes and that will be about as far as their interaction with the sport, athletes etc ever goes. All "new" sports need to be working hard to stream their content online, upload the full show after the fact and then still cut it all up into clips and push it out 24/7 on social media. Give athletes the rights to use their clips to find their own sponsorship deals, create their own content etc. I could go on, but this comment is already far too long. There's still A LOT of work left to do across the board.

Radzi did a great job, Lalas and Jamie Reeves were good too and the commentators. I think you're being very harsh on Gail I though she was doing very well considering she isn't a part of strongman, articulate and kept the interviews ticking over and mostly relevant questions. Years away from the cringe when Chris Kamara tried to do it. Totally worked as a live event I watched all 6 hours while doing other things at the same time.
@thelionofgod
@thelionofgod 15 күн бұрын
Thought Gail was mediocre, certainly provided another familiar face for non-strongman fans. I've seen some really terrible presenters over the years, think Rogue Invitational has been guilty, obviously ASC too. Could definitely be improved. My experience with strongman on TV over decades is that you need to be a good presenter and also treat strongman with a sense of seriousness. James Richardson was always pretty good, John Inverdale was excellent. Lots of people can't stand Radzi, but I think he's good despite the occasional gaffe. He's a reliable, professional presenter, and it helps that he also happens to be a strongman fan. I happen to disagree about the idea of getting one of the pro women to replace Gail doing the athlete interviews. My sense is that it's actually quite a hard job in terms of live production, but relatively easy in terms of sporting knowledge. Reeves and Lalas are both good, but don't have a great vibe together. Lalas seemed nervous to me, kept making silly verbal mistakes. When Bish has had enough of competing, I think he'd make a brilliant strongman pundit, and it wouldn't hurt that him and Radzi go back 15 years.

Good to see it on tv but thought a lot of the events were a poor choice and not entertaining to watch for casual none strongman enthusiasts that you will get with a live event on terrestrial tv. Tyre flip was too heavy and a car flip, why both? Running and putting a harness on is not a test of strength. Static car hold not entertaining to watch. Bar bend was a painful watch and especially when most of them couldn't do it.

I think if Glenn was able to man up and squash his beefs and own his past mistakes then he could have the best strongman TV production in the world. Presenter/analyst duty would be amazing if you had Lalas and Radzi, bring back Kammy, and bring in Eddie and Pa for the banter. It's a big shame that there's a lack of representation for strongman and certain people have let their own ego and pride push the sport back. But at the very least, we're heading in the right direction
