Tuesday July 28:
Shortly before 8:30 on a hot summer night crews were dispatched to a report of a structure fire on McLaren Blvd in the cities north end. Upon arrival first due in E8 reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof of a townhouse complex. Crews began a fast attack while backup crews arrived. Soon after a multiple alarms were struck, five in total which brought every on duty fire fighter, and every manned apparatus to the scene. At this point for over an hour the city was left with NO FIRE coverage at all.
Crews completed a primary and secondary search of apartments and found no one inside.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, At least one fire fighter was checked at the scene by ANB when he suffered some debris in the eyes. No other injuries were reported. This was a great knock down by the SJFD as they were able to contain the bulk of the fire to the upper floor and the attic space.
