Great video Chris. Brings back memories for me on my grandfathers farm using the same and older machinery 50 years ago. Myself, my older cousin and our mates all chipping in to help out. My father would of been older than you, but my grandfather your dads age. Great times, builds skills, work ethic, lifetime friendships and great fun. This time next week I’ll be arriving in Abergavenny, visiting family and friends from back then, even though I emigrated to the States 32 years ago. Do you remember the days when we went back to school after the summer holidays and were asked to write an essay about what we did? Your kids and their mates could write a book 😂. When I was a kid during the summer I went down to my uncles farm, he had a finger mower like yours by the time I was 9 I used to cut the grass for him on his old David brown, if I'd left that much grass uncut that you left he would of sent me home with a flea in my ear and told never to return. You need to go lower and sharpen the blades and have a few spare blades to replace any broken ones when you hit something solid 😂

I have always found when we get an apprentice who grew up on a farm is that (a) They put in a shift (b) They are as a 1st year apprentice generally more advanced than a 3rd year ,They in their 1st year can do a clutch on a tractor unit unsupervised ..You Chris are obviously the exception to the rule lol

That all takes me back to happier times mate, we had a drawbar mounted reaper/binder and us kids had to stack the barley in "stooks" then build a proper stack. The old farmer used to hire a combine harvester in October (out of season was cheaper !) and we'd hand feed the combine and fork the straw into a baler parked up behind. Things got a bit "ratty" as the stack diminished !

Another great video Chris, would love a ramble round that scrap yard. Can I suggest you take one of Dave’s grab wagons on road test and while your out just fish your baler out of the scrubland, load it on the back and take it home. You won’t be the first mechanic to go on road test and do a little job while your out. I’ve filled enough water troughs on pastures for horse and cattle from a fire engine I was out on test with ha ha. Nice to see the kids enjoyed themselves

Chris on the mower you need increase the clamping pressure on the blade rather than bending the blade. It may need bending a bit and the "clamp's" that sit over the top of the blade need to push down more. Either by wedging or something
