Thank you for making this! It’s so helpful to hear from other ADHD people what’s working and also just remember that I’m not the only one who thinks like this. I’m not a naturally neat person AT ALL but these days the stress of clutter breaks my brain and sends me on a mission 😅

Once I am in a working mode it's actually pretty hard for me to stop, even when my children need something. So doing the Pomodoro method of work for 25 minutes then taking a 5 minute break would be really hard for me. I think that I would benefit from being disciplined in that way, as well as my children in doing their homeschool work, it would just have to be something that I work really hard at doing.

I loved your rule, "I have to create something before I consume something." That's a great way to look at it! In the past, I turned off my phone before bed. But ever since my husband was in the hospital & rehab, then passed away 3 years ago, I've never felt comfortable leaving it turned off (or in another room) at night. I did set a bedtime schedule on my phone, so I don't get any notifications overnight (unless one of my kids calls). That has helped me to not be tempted to look at my phone at night or early in the morning.

Good morning, Robyn! I’m the same with messes and the inability to work. It’s the same in my classroom. My colleagues tease me over how much stuff I don’t have out. At first, it made them doubt my work ethic because they didn’t see evidence of my work. However, they know better now. I just can’t work in clutter. :)

thank you so much for your advices ! it is comforting ! i dream to be an entrepreneur too but felt worried to be able to organise all :) I do and learn how i process, step by step :) I use the pomodoro method too :) i feel that balance between mental focus and moving my body 5 min helps me a lot in fact :) doing a tea, walk outdoor, fresh air around or do concrete task (trashing the bin out.. etc :) and morning i need to clear all around me as a ritual, to set me ready to focus for the day then :) I discover a lot of advices in this video that I am in hurry to try directly :) a lot of things you said help me to understand my process and feel more in control so when we understand how we process and need :) and as you succeed to be an entrepreneur, nurse, coach, mama, wonderful woman :) it inspires me that even with ADHD, we can succeed our projects, life :) and turn our enthusiastic brain going in every direction, for the best in his hyper focus creative side :) THANK YOU SO MUCH :)

I am meant to be writing school reports, so I am in full blown procrastination mode. It really doesn't help that I am also sick and am experiencing non-stop pain from arthritis. I have taken a day to rest and get the most important jobs done so I can sit down and get my reports done over the next 2 nights. I always start with a timer and use the Pomodoro method but I usually get on a roll and turn off the timer after a while.

Oh yeah, I am wildly distracted by clutter. I work from home also doing telehealth and so my schedule is pretty set in stone. It actually doesn’t take much planning on my part. And I can’t get distracted or take a break while I’m in the middle of a session or an evaluation. I did a lot of decluttering before I moved into this house and I have started a routine that I called the morning tidy. Which just means that when I get up before I start work, I go around the house and make sure everything‘s in its place. Throw in a load of laundry if that needs done or put the dishes away from the dishwasher. And sure the cats are fed so they aren’t staring in the window the whole time! so now if I do get distracted, at least it’s buy something cool like a pileated woodpecker flying by or a snake climbing up the hillside across from my window.

Thank you, I think I have adhd, but I was only diagnosed with ptsd. Is there similarities between the two? Sometimes I think that I’m brain scattered a lot because of my up bringing, we moved from state to state and school to school, everything about our lives was so unpredictable and we just had to adapt to the next situation. I love learning so many things but It’s overwhelming because I don’t have the patience to dive deep into what I’m into at that moment because I also have a household to take care of and four children, two adults and two minors and a husband. When I think of all that, than what I want to learn or do,isn’t that important anymore and than I discover something else I’m interested in and the same thing over and over. What is this? Is it disorganization or lack of priorities or self love or what? What do you think? I learned how to really read at 13 years old by myself and looking for words on the dictionary, math is still an issue because of the patience I tails you about. I took my GED test when I was about 25 years old and I passed everything except math and science. I’m 42 now.
