I hyperfocus on the planning but then don't do the DOING. 🤣🤣🤣 I either fall down a rabbit hole and lose all track of time, or I forget what I planned in the first place!! 🤪 Another great video xx

Oh my gosh I feel SEEN! that lady that could see barriers coming at work and thought too far ahead - I do that TOO, and I was always shut down because "I only see the negative" or I focus on the "one offs" rather than just blindly diving into "probably most of this will work" 🙄. Months later, we were dealing with my "what about ___" problems, and being reactive not proactive. Now, they let me write all my thoughts and questions and concerns down when they propose something new, and then a smaller group and I have a separate discussion just to cover my "what if's." This has been helpful to me too, to almost learn how to "declutter" my initial concerns about change. Before, I just had all these thoughts and 'knew' no one wanted to hear them, so I bottled up and brewed that concern and judgement into stress and resentment then gloating when I ended up being right. NOW, it's like I box them up, and then go through them one by one with a decluttering buddy: do we keep this valid concern and fix it, or let it go because we have ___ to handle it if it comes up? Just decluttering, do I keep this thing just in case or toss it? Eventually, my decluttering of home goods helped me build confidence and skill in decision making, and my coworkers are helping me develop my decision making regarding "is this a voicable concern, or can I let go of this unlikely scenario and not lose sleep?"

I think my mother was undiagnosed. She left a roadrunner trail of unfinished tasks behind here. I began sorting out after her at a very early age, and was the house mom

Just diagnosed at 43. Kind of a relief to have a reason for some of my issues, but also a bit overwhelming on how to overcome/adapt to some of the traits. My 11 year old daughter was also diagnosed at about the same time and I am researching how to not only help myself, but give her tools to excel.

I'm 49. Undiagnosed. Both of my children are diagnosed. Autistic/OCD/SPD and ADHD. During the pandemic my husband 50 was officially diagnosed ADHD as well. So safe to say my suspicions that I am are accurate😂 I have also struggled most of my life have learning difficulties. Dyscalculia, OCD, dyspraxia, SPD, skin picking. We are a full neurodivergent household. 😊❤ I am grateful for having the resources and information for my children that I did not have or our parents didn't have. I wish I would have known sooner... 😢my son was diagnosed at 4 and that was the start of all of our family's ADHD Journey. It was when ❤ my son's doctor said it's hereditary and according to my family tree it is... and according to my husband's family tree it is, as well. Yep turns out both of our parents are neurodivergent also, undiagnosed. I wondered why my mother in law normalized a lot of my sons behaviors😂 we're both the innatentive, sensory avoider ADHD type. So is my oldest son but my husband, his father and my youngest son are the impulsive, sensory seeker, hyper type. Fun neurodivergent times lol 😊Thank you for your informative, supportive videos, they really help. ❤ Just to be clear my oldest son was diagnosed at 4 he is now 16...My youngest son was diagnosed at 18 months and is now 13. My oldest son speaks but is limited in his communcation skills and I would say my youngest son talks about a mile a minute and has excellent communication skills 😊❤ we are each unique but all on the Spectrum. Best of luck to everyone on their personal Journey of ADHD discovery. I can say it doesn't necessarily get any easier and it's never going to be cured... however it can become more manageable...which in turn makes life seem a lil' bit easier😅😊❤ A good sense of humor, patience, resilence and empathy works for me.

So I love watching your videos and I have been thinking that I may have focus issues. This video just made me realize that I have ADD. I began crying at the ditz part of your video, my entire family my whole life referred to me as the stupid blonde. It bothered me so much that I began dying my hair brown to get the comments to stop and be taken seriously. I want to thank you for your videos that have been so helpful to me. I love your genuine personality and I always enjoy sharing a cup of tea with you. Thank you.

My son was diagnosed at 6 years old and when filling out the assessment I was definitely like OMG! always felt guilty because I know he had to have inherited it from me. Luckily, he did very well on low dose medication plus I was sensitive to his needs UNLIKE how I grew up always being scolded or expected to act NORMAL. I have adapted in lots of ways and do see the plus side to ADD in my life, but I have never taken the plunge to be diagnosed. Awareness is a big help for me so I can alter my ways of doing things for success, but it is very tiring too.

I couldn't meal plan to save my life, I would work SO HARD to do it one or 2 weeks, and then get overwhelmed, exhausted, and waste a bunch of food OR is realize I'd forgotten one key ingredient and then we were getting pizza again. I tried a book Dawn, 'the minimal mom' discussed on her channel: "cook once eat all week" It gives you 3 main dishes that have enough servings for 3-5 meals with leftovers (family of 3 big eaters here). The weekly shopping list is provided so you don't have to figure anything out (and the 3 weekly dishes are all based on similar ingredients so it's like, 5 lbs chicken and 4 heads broccoli & rice. Then some pantry stuff) the 3 dishes are remarkably different and you don't feel like 'i just ate chicken& broccoli for 3 days straight' I like to mark up the book with my family's own preferences, but there are digital download options. It was a great place for me to start, and least I know I can make 3-5 days worth of food, and that way, I don't over-buy and 'plan' for 7 days which realistically, wastes food. When I feel too overwhelmed to even assemble today's dinner, I have planned for a couple pizza or cereal nights. This has helped us waste less food and money, and has reduced time meal planning and shopping, which frees up the "prep time" for her meals, which takes a neurotypical person about an hour, and takes me like 3 hours a week, but then the actual dinners day-of take like 40 min fridge to table.

Omg my kid was just diagnosed with ADHD & everything you talked about applies to her. She has a hard time focusing & takes forever to do things. The doc said girls that are not hyperactive can go undiagnosed.

@@MinimalistHome Yes, it's not about putting her on meds or being in denial but about finding the right tools to help her be successful! She is very young and now we know we have to do things a little different and we have to take more breaks. I wish people wouldn't view a diagnosis as a negative thing.

My youngest daughter has symptoms of ADHD, even though her paediatrician shrugged it off because of a single-page questionnaire he had her and a couple of her teachers complete… Fast forward a few months and the common theme on her report card is, “She can do even better if she would pay attention and get assigned work completed on time.” So I’m not sure where to go from here. And since watching more videos on the subject, I’m beginning to think that I may have it as well! I’m in Canada btw. Do you have any insight as to how one can get a definitive diagnosis?
@MinimalistHome
@MinimalistHome Жыл бұрын
It depends on where you are. Maybe you could try a different paediatrician, sometimes a psych-ed assessment is valuable too! Good luck!

So where do I start? My regular doctor? A psychologist? I've started to suspect over the years but now I'm almost certain.

Start with your doctor and see where that takes you. If you feel like you’re not getting anywhere, check to see what resources are available locally. It depends a lot on where you live. Good luck!

I was always off in dreamland! I did learn to read and spell well! I thought as I was older, maybe my eyeglasses were too strong, which might of made me go off in to dazes, if I could not see proper, I wonder? Once in grade one, it was time to get our winter clothes on to go home, I was starting to take my tights off, I caught myself and felt embarrassed! I was in some other world evidently! I was lost a lot! Very observant though! I was told I had a good imagination! TOO obedient and honest. I was average grades. Once the teacher asked me if I coppied a story for my own story. I said no, its mine! I don't think he beleived me, because he didn't say it was good. But he thought it was good enough that I must have copied it. I was a messy printer also, but aced all my spelling tests! I am rambling, so much to say! I also have some o.c.d. I am aware and trying to improve! Routines are better for me. I have transition problems too. It is nice to know I am not from Mars! Thanks for your video!
